Mechanism of action
The Lombax vario belt relieves low back pain,
supporting the lumbar spine: compartmental lumbar
unloading is therefore achieved via increased intra-
abdominal pressure. This device uses back pads,
implementing a pulley-like system to distribute
pressure.
Indications
Adult patients with the conditions indicated and
compatible with the size chart*:
• Non-specific low back pain (acute, subacute and
chronic phases)
• Lumbar-spinal stenosis
Destination:
These braces can only be used for the treatment of
the back indications listed.
Fitting instructions
• Choose the appropriate size to fit the patient,
referring to the size chart (indicated on the box and
on the instruction leaflet).
• Before use, ensure that the product is not damaged.
• Wear the belt on top of a t-shirt or thin vest.
• Open the belt and lay it out completely flat so that
you can see all of the components.
• If recommended by your healthcare professional,
position the lumbar cushion ⑨ in the belt using the
touch fastening system.
• Position the belt around your waist, placing your
right hand through the finger loop ⑦ located on
the right lower strap ④
over the spine. The bottom of the belt must stop
at the top of the crease between the buttocks.
The Thuasne logo indicates which way up the belt
should be put on. The Thuasne name must be the
right way up.
• Fasten the belt using the wide touch fastening
straps: attach the lower strap ④
adjusting to the desired tightness. Repeat the
procedure with the upper strap ⑤
• If necessary, adjust the tightness to suit your
requirements.
Contraindications
• Do not use on pregnant women.
• Do not use in the event of known allergy to any

• Do not use in the event of a hiatus hernia.
• Do not use in the event of bone cancer with spinal
metastases. Do not use in the event of deficient
respiratory functions.
Precautions
It is recommended that a health professional adjust
the stays to the shape of the patient's back before the
belt is worn for the first time.
For temporary use, combined with functional
rehabilitation if necessary, following the advice or
prescription of a health professional.
Consult a health professional if discomfort or pain
occurs. Do not use the device if it is damaged.
Do not wear the product while sleeping.
Do not wear the product in a medical imaging
machine. Store the device at room temperature, in its
original packaging.
Reusable
medical
performance reasons, do not re-use the product for
another patient.
Dispose of the product with household waste
(no special disposal conditions).
Unwanted side effects
Any serious incidents occurring related to the device
should be reported to the manufacturer and to the
competent authority of the Member State in which
the user and/or patient is resident.
Washing instructions
• Remove the lumbar cushion and fasten the touch
fastening system before washing.
• Machine wash at a maximum temperature of
40°C (forty degrees Celsius), using the delicates
programme.
• Do not machine wash the device more than 10
times. Do not dry clean.
• Do not wash the device using aggressive products
containing chlorine or oxygenated whitening
products.
• Do not tumble dry. Do not iron.
• Squeeze out excess water and dry flat away from
heat sources.
• Clean the lumbar cushion with a damp cloth.
