remove the caps by unscrewing the two fixing screws and turn the thermostat adjustment
knob (V fig. 4) gently in a clockwise direction using a screwdriver.
Operation and maintenance advice
All maintenance work should be performed by qualified personnel. However, before
contacting the Technical Assistance Service in the event of a breakdown, check that the
lack of operation is not due to other external causes.
Part replacement
Disconnect the appliance from the electricity mains.
The electrical parts can be accessed by removing the protective cap. To work on the
thermostat (fig. 4), disconnect it from the electricity mains and slide it out of its slot. To
work on the heating element (R fig. 5), first empty the appliance and then loosen the
screws fixing the flange in place.
During the assembly stages, make sure that the position of the seal (Z fig. 5) remains
the same as the original position (every time it is removed it is recommended that the
seal is replaced).
Reactivation of the bipolar safety device
In the event of unusual overheating of the water, a thermal safety switch (which complies
with CEI-EN regulations) cuts off the electrical circuit on both the power supply phases
of the heating element.
In this case it will be necessary to contact the Technical Assistance Service.
Pressure safety device
The pressure safety device must be enabled regularly (once a month) in order to remove
all limescale deposits and to check that it is not clogged.
Warnings
• Make sure that the hot water taps in the system are sealed perfectly, as any dripping
equates to energy consumption and an increase in the water temperature, with the
resulting formation of steam and leading to a dangerous rise in pressure.
• The water heater is fitted with a magnesium anode (N fig. 5) which provides the anode
protection for the tank; it is located on the flange.
The duration of the anode depends on:
either the average temperature of the water contained in the tank,
or the chemical composition of the water,
or the frequency at which water is drawn.
The anode fitted in the factory is designed to remain efficient for approximately two (2)
years, obviously at average operating conditions. It is, however, preferable to check the
condition of the anode every 12 to 18 months (its surface should look reasonably
smooth).
If the diameter falls below 10 to 12 mm, it should be replaced with an original replacement
anode. This process should be performed by authorised personnel.
• If the water is particularly "hard", it is recommended that "de-scaling" procedures are
performed regularly using a solution of 10 to 20% hydrochloric acid and phosphoric.
Special "de-scaling" products may also be used (these are usually intended for use
with heating boilers); we recommend that the instructions attached to these products
are followed carefully.
When carrying out this task, proceed as follows:
- disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply and the water mains supply and
begin emptying it;
- refill the tank with the water and acid solution in accordance with the cleaning product
instructions;
