- Position the lower trim panel (B) onto the fitted running board (A) from below, and secure it
in place using the expanding rivets (M) as shown in the figure (14, 15).
- Slide the lower trim panel (B) towards the outside of the running board (A) – i.e. outwards
from the vehicle along the Y-axis, so that the gap between the edge of the running board
(A) and the edge of the lower trim panel (B) is kept to a minimum.
- Carefully push in all rivets.

- Before the seal (N) is fitted onto the running board web plate, the edge of this web plate
must be treated with corrosion protection agent along its entire length (this is covered by
the seal). Use cavity preservative for this (order no. D 329 215 M1).
Please note: When applying cavity preservative to the edge of the
running board web plate, proceed with extreme care to ensure that
this corrosion protection agent does not leak out from under the seal.
If any agent does leak out, remove it immediately using Terostat
8550 cleaning agent.
- Leave the applied cavity preservative to dry for a few minutes.
- Fit the seal (N) onto the running board web plate (see section A - A) and carefully press
down.
Check that the running boards have been fastened correctly, and refit the front and rear
doors. Remove the protective foils from the polished components on the running board.
Return the vehicle to the customer (fig. 17). Provide the customer with the
following information when returning the vehicle:
In inclement weather, be extremely careful when getting into and out of the
vehicle, as there is a risk of slipping and being injured.
When elevating the vehicle (e.g. to change the tyres), make sure that the arms
of the lifting platform are in the correct position. Never position the lifting
platform arms directly on the running board to support the vehicle.
The maximum permissible load for the running board is:
locally (at any given point) – 150 kg per side,
total – 300 kg per side.
Never exceed the maximum permissible load for the running boards.
Removing the running boards
Should it be necessary to replace the vehicle sills and, therefore, the running boards
(e.g. if the vehicle has been involved in a collision), proceed as follows:
- Remove the seal (N) from the running board web plate (A),
- Remove the lower trim panels (B) from the running boards (A),
- Carefully bore out all blind rivets (L),
