working ergonomics of the planing which significantly
reduces the noise level.
8.1. CUTTING ADJUSTMENTS
Turn knob G (Fig. 2) until you have reached the desired
cutting depth (maximum cutting depth 3mm).
8.2. HELICOIDAL BLADE HOLDER FOR THE PLA-
NER. HELICOIDAL BLADE
Use only sharp blades in good condition. Blunt blades
increase the risk of the planer springing back while
planing and damaging the quality of the work.
The planer is fitted with helicoidal blade holder ref.
2346494 as standard. (Fig. 3A) The blade has an angled
edge so cannot be sharpened.
8.2.1. CHANGING THE BLADE HOLDER
Unplug the machine from the electrical
outlet before performing any mainte-
nance operation.
To change the helicoidal blade holder (Fig. 3A) proceed
as follows:
- Loosen screws H from cover I with the 4mm Allen
key and, with a slight leveraging movement using
the hexagonal key, remove the cover to access blade
holder O (Fig. 4)
- Using the hexagonal retention key, hold blade holder
O and with the 4 mm Allen key, loosen the locking
screw for blade holder O. Both keys are supplied with
the machine (Fig. 5)
- After removing fastening screw P, blade block O is
released and may be removed from the planer. (Fig. 6)
- Clean the blade shaft if it is dirty.
- Fit the new blade block and tighten fastening screw
P. (Fig. 5 and 6)
- Finally, re-attach cover I fixing it in place with screws
H using the 4 mm Allen key. (Fig. 4)
- Check with a ruler supported on base L that blade S is
perfectly level and parallel to the base of the machine (Fig.
7). If necessary, raise or lower base L using adjustment
spindle J (Fig. 8), operated with the 4 mm a/f Allen key
until the blades are perfectly aligned and parallel with
the base of the planer. (Fig. 7)
Make sure the blade is perfectly fastened
using the screws.
Before starting the planer, make sure
that the blade holder rotates freely in
position without interfering with any
other part of the planer.
Following the same assembly process (Figs. 11-12) you
can install the straight blade holder (ref. 2346558) (Fig.
3B) supplied as an optional accessory.
For blade-holder system spares use only original VIRUTEX
components.

8.2.2. REPLACING BLADES

8.2.2.1 CHANGING HELICOIDAL BLADES

Disconnect from the mains before ca-
rrying out any maintenance operations.
Remove the blade by loosening screws Z1-Z2 (Fig. 9A)
with the 2-mm Allen key supplied.
Next, support the shaft bit fitting for the hexagonal
key on the face of blade S and push until the blade
slides on the slot. (Fig. 9B). By turning side protector
Z3, the blade can be completely removed from the slot.
If necessary, clean build-up of shavings from the blade
using a grease-removing product.
Remove blade holder O by first dismantling support
cover I, following the process explained in the previous
step (Figs. 4-5-6).
With the blade holder resting on a flat surface and with
its hexagonal side facing upwards (Figs. 10A-10B), insert
new blade S in the slot with the side with fixing holes
V facing the locking screws Z1-Z2 (Fig. 10A), until the
blade stops on the flat support base.
First tighten central screw Z1 then the two external screws
Z2, ensuring the blade is firmly held in place (Fig. 10B)
Re-attach blade holder O to the planer, ensuring it is
fastened to the blade holder shaft by tightening screw
P. (Fig. 5 and 6).
Finally, re-attach cover I, fixing it in place with screws
H using the 4 mm Allen key (Fig. 4).
Check with a ruler supported on base L that blade S is
perfectly level and parallel to the base of the machine
(Fig. 7). If necessary, raise or lower base L by using
adjustment spindle J (Fig. 8), and the 4 mm a/f Allen
key until the blades are perfectly aligned and parallel
to the base of the planer (Fig. 7).
Make sure the blade is perfectly fastened
using the screws.
Before starting the planer, make sure
that the blade holder rotates freely in
position without interfering with any
other part of the planer.
For blade-holder system spares use only original VIRUTEX
components.
