DANGER: Do not handle pressurized hoses. Escaping
oil under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing
serious injury. If oil is injected under the skin, see a
doctor immediately.
WARNING: Only use hydraulic cylinders in a coupled
system. Never use a cylinder with unconnected couplers. If
the cylinder becomes extremely overloaded, components
can fail catastrophically causing severe personal injury.
WARNING: BE SURE SETUP IS STABLE BEFORE
LIFTING LOAD. Cylinders should be placed on a fl at
surface that can support the load. Where applicable, use
a cylinder base for added stability. Do not weld or otherwise
modify the cylinder to attach a base or other support.
Avoid situations where loads are not directly centered
on the cylinder plunger. Off-center loads produce
considerable strain on cylinders and plungers. In
addition, the load may slip or fall, causing potentially dangerous
results.
Distribute the load evenly across the entire saddle surface.
Always use a saddle to protect the plunger.
IMPORTANT: Hydraulic equipment must only be serviced
by a qualifi ed hydraulic technician. For repair service,
contact the Authorized ENERPAC Service Center in your
area. To protect your warranty, use only ENERPAC oil.
WARNING: Immediately replace worn or damaged parts
with genuine ENERPAC parts. Standard grade parts will
break causing personal injury and property damage.
ENERPAC parts are designed to fi t properly and withstand high
loads.
3.0 INSTALLATION
WARNING: Install gauge in system. This pump does
not have a relief valve so monitoring system pressure
is necessary.

3.1 Tube Connection

1.
Close pump release valve by turning clockwise. Use fi nger
pressure only.
2.
Using 40,000 psi rated tube and tube fi ttings, insert end of
tubing through hole in gland nut and secure with sleeve.
3.
Position end of tubing in discharge port of pump and secure
with gland nut. Do not over-tighten.
WARNING: This pump is not equipped with a relief
valve. A gauge must be used with this pump at all
times. Do not exceed 40,000 psi [2800 bar].

Outlet Port
4.0 OPERATION
1.
Release handle lock pin located under beam.
2.
The pump may be operated as a vented or a non-vented
pump. Turn the reservoir fi ll cap to the position desired.
CAUTION: Do not stand directly over the pump
handle. It is possible for the pump handle to "kick
back." Keep your body to the side of the pump and
away from the line of force of the handle.
3.
Open pump release valve by turning counterclockwise one
turn. Operate the pump using full strokes six or more times
as necessary to purge air from the pump circuit.
4.
Open pump fi ll cap and check the oil level. Fill (using
Enerpac oil only) to the indicator mark on the end cap. DO
NOT overfi ll.
NOTE: The P-2282 pump has a usable oil capacity of 60 cu. in.
5.
Close release valve by turning clockwise.
NOTE: Release valve is designed to close with hand pressure
only. Use of tools to close valve can result in damage to the valve
and/or valve seat.
6.
The pump may be operated from horizontal or vertical
position. In the vertical position, the discharge port must be
down.
7.
The P-2282 is a two stage pump. The shift from fi rst to second
stage is automatic when the system pressure reaches 200
psi.
8.
The P-2282 pump does NOT have an internal relief valve.
This necessitates the use of a gauge at all times.
NOTE: When designing a system to use with the P-2282,
allow for oil compressibility. In low pressure applications this is
negligible, but as pressure increases, oil will compress at a rate
of approximately 1/2% per 1000 psi.
5.0 MAINTENANCE
To check oil level in pump, open release valve to allow oil in the
system to return to pump. Remove fi ll cap. Add Enerpac hydraulic
oil until level with mark on rear cap. Do not overfi ll. To function
properly all hand pumps require air in the reservoir. If the oil level
is too high the pump will not operate.
If the pump is operated under dirty conditions, frequent changing
of the oil is recommended. Refi ll with clean Enerpac oil.
Periodically lubricate the beam pin, cross pin, and piston head.
