REMOVALE
WARNING: Engines with variable valve timing: Mark camshafts, camshaft sprockets, camshaft
adjusters and related camshaft drive system components (as applicable) with chalk or paint prior to
removal or dismantling to assist alignment on installation.
1.
Remove exhaust camshaft adjuster cover.
2.
Remove blanking plug from cylinder block.
3.
Install the crankshaft locking pin (This tool is optionally available under BGS 62625-1). If locking
tool cannot be inserted fully: Remove locking tool. Turn crankshaft 90° clockwise. Install the
locking tool again.
4.
Turn crankshaft slowly clockwise until crankshaft web stops against locking tool. Note: Engine at
TDC on No.1 cylinder.
5.
Ensure hole in camshaft rear sprocket at 12 o'clock position.
6.
Ensure rear of inlet camshaft at position shown.
7.
Install the camshaft positioning tool (1). Ensure tool (1) can be inserted easily. Secure with bolts.
8.
Install the camshaft timing pin (2). Ensure tool (2) is fully inserted in sprocket.

16. Slacken exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt.
Note: DO NOT use camshaft timing tool to hold camshafts when slackening bolts.
17. Slacken tensioner pulley bolt and release tension on belt.
18. Remove timing belt. Note: Mark direction of rotation on belt with chalk if belt is to be reused.
INSTALLATION
1.
Ensure crankshaft web against the crankshaft locking pin (BGS 62625-1)
2.
Ensure tool (1) and camshaft timing pin (2) fitted correctly.
3.
Ensure flat section of crankshaft at 12 o'clock position.
4.
Fit crankshaft sprocket. Ensure sprocket fitted fully onto crankshaft.
5.
Fit timing belt to crankshaft sprocket. Note: If reusing old belt, observe direction of rotation marks
on belt.
6.
Fit timing belt lower cover.
7.
Fit Crankshaft pulley, New crankshaft pulley bolt.
8.
Hold crankshaft pulley. Use counterholding tool.
9.
Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt to desired torque value / angle of rotation.
10. Fit new bolt to each camshaft sprocket. Finger tighten bolts.
