Installation instructions

Encoder with servo flange
In the case of this flange design, there are 2
installation options
- via the three threaded holes on the
flange side.
Subsequent adjustment of zero via the
flange not possible.
- Using servo clamps on the servo groove.
Subsequent zero adjustment via the
flange is possible.
Installation via threaded holes
on the flange side
(Figure 1a)
Block the driveshaft on the customer side.
Install the coupling (3); take care that it does
not touch the encoder flange.
Push the encoder with assembled coupling
(3) onto the driveshaft and centring
attachment (7).
Fasten encoder using three M4 screws (8).
Fasten the coupling (3) on the driveshaft.
Make the electrical connections with the
voltage switched off. Switch on the voltage
and check the functioning of the
encoder.
Issue 05 / 10
Subject to change without notice
The installation of the encoder must be
undertaken by a specialist with knowled-
ge in electrical and precision mechanical
engineering.
Installation using servo clamps
(Figure 1b)
Block the driveshaft on the customer side.
Install the coupling (3); ensure that it does
not touch the encoder flange.
Mount the servo clamps (2) using
M4 screws (1).
Do not tighten the screws, rotate the servo
clamps such that the encoder flange can be
pushed into the centring attachment.
Push the encoder with installed coupling (3)
onto the driveshaft and centring
attachment (7).
Insert the servo clamps (2) into the groove
by rotating and tighten them gently.
Fasten the coupling (3) on the driveshaft.
Make the electrical connections with the vol-
tage switched off. Switch on the voltage and
check the functioning of the encoder.
The zero point or any desired position can be
set by rotating the flange with the driveshaft
stationary.
After adjustment has been carried out, it is
absolutely necessary to tighten all 3 screws
of the servo clamps.
An incremental encoder may be used
only for the purpose appropriate to its
design.
Encoder with face mounting flange
In the case of this flange design, there are 2
installation options
- via the three threaded holes on the
flange side.
Subsequent zero adjustment via the
flange not possible.
- By means of clamping on the clamping
attachment.
Subsequent zero adjustment via the
flange is possible.
