4.2) Using the drilling machine
The drilling machine can be used independently or in conjunction with the support trolley:
4.2.1) Using the drilling machine independently
– Press the switch (03), see § 4.1.4.
– Using the main handle locate the drilling machine on the sleeper in the desired position,
locate the guard end piece (18) into the bush of the chair and proceed as § 4.3.
4.2.2) Using the drilling machine with the support trolley
– Insert the spigot (28) of the drilling machine into the housing of the trolley (See Fig. 3).
With the drilling machine supported by the trolley, re-position the handle through 90° as
follows:
– Loosen the screw and release the main handle (05) from the machine (1) (See Figs. 3 and 4).
– Place the main handle (05) in the new position (2) (See Fig. 4) insert the locating pins, through
the slot, into their corresponding holes.
– Tighten the screw with 6 mm hex key.
– Press the switch (03) (See§ 4.1.4).
– Using the main handle of the drilling machine, move the trolley over the sleeper to the desired
hole position and locate the guard end piece (18), into the bush of the chair.
4.4) Emergency release
To remove the machine in an emergency during a drilling operation, proceed as follows:
4.4.1) Machine equipped with "MND" spindle
– Immediately release the push button (07).
– Operate the emergency lever (09) moving it downwards.
– Keeping the lever depressed, slightly twist the machine, to release the auger. Lift and remove
the machine from the auger.
Note: For use of the support trolley, refer to specific "Service and
Maintenance Manual".
4.3) Drilling
To start the motor, press the push button (07).
Start to drill the hole by pressing down lightly on the machine,
to engage the spiral tip of the auger.

The machine will traverse automatically without additional
effort from operator.
At the pre-set depth or break through of the hole, the ma-
chine traverse will automatically stop and retract the auger.
Release the push button (07).
