1) Remove clutch retaining nut
2) Sanden: Position puller disc above clutch plate and thread 3 bolts into clutch plate. (Fig A)
Delphi/Harrison & Others: Install remover tool in the clutch plate by threading the outer body into the center hole of the clutch plate. (Fig. G)
3) Thread the Push Rod (Arbor) through the Disc or puller body. (Fig B & H)
4) Sanden: Tighten the 3 bolt evenly until snug. Then tighten the Push rod until the clutch plate is released. (Fig C & D)
Delphi/Harrison & Others: Tight the hex on the Push Rod (Arbor) while holding the outer body stationary unit the clutch plate is released. (Fig I & J)
5) Remove clutch assembly snap rings and lift clutch assembly off of the compressor.
A/C Clutch Installation –
1) Sanden: To install, first insert clutch shaft key (Fig E) and then reverse the removal procedures. Press clutch plate down on output shaft until retaining nut can be installed, and tighten the retaining nut to push
clutch into position.
Delphi/Harrison & Others: To install, first insert clutch shaft key (Fig K) then press the clutch plate down on output shaft (Fig L). Next, assembly the installer unit and install with inner threads of the pushrod
(arbor) engaged with outer threads on clutch output shaft with the bearing against the clutch plate. Tighten the inner push rod (arbor) while holding the body stationary. (Same as Fig I) Finish by installing and tight-
ening the retaining nut.
Fixed Orifice Tube Removal –
1) Discharge A/C system using approved refrigerant recycling equipment, and disconnect the condenser-to-evaporator discharge line. Remove O-rings (if necessary).
2) Determine the suitable orifice tube removal tool for your application. If the discharge line includes a nut at the fitting go to step 7.
Discharge line without nut:
3) Assemble the tool without the adjusting nut on to the body. Install Adapter. (Fig N) Then insert the adapter into the discharge line. (Fig O)
4) Engage adapter with end of the orifice tube. Turn handle until tangs engage. Pull back on tool and remove orifice tube form the discharge line. (Fig P & Q)
5) If orifice tubes break during removal. (Fig R) assemble the tool body with broken orifice tube extractor adapter. (Fig S)
6) Insert adapter end into discharge line Thread broken orifice tube until it is seated firmly. Pull back on tool and remove broken orifice tube from the discharge line. (Fig T)
Discharge line with nut at fitting:
7) Assemble the tool with adjuster nut with internal thread facing the adapter end, and insert the end into the discharge line.
8) Engage adapter with the end of the orifice tube. Rotate until fully engaged. Thread the adjuster nut onto fitting.
9) While holding handle of the tool stationary, tighten the adjuster nut to slowly remove orifice tube. Once orifice tube is free from the line, turn the adjuster nut off and pull tool and orifice tube from discharge line.
10) If orifice tube breaks during removal (Fig R) assemble the tool body with broken orifice tube extractor adapter. (Fig S) and follow procedure in step 9.
