3. Adjustment process
WARNING
When adjusting the adjustable Gravitational
Unit, care must be taken that the open-
ing pressure is changed by a maximum of
16 cmH
O per adjustment process.
2
Example: The opening pressure for the
adjustable Gravitational Unit on the proSA is
to be changed from 6 to 36 cmH
is only one adjustment process, the rotor will
rotate anti-clockwise (short route) and stop
at the setting 0 cmH
The correct method is an adjustment in two
stages: Initial adjustment from 6 cmH
22 cmH
O and then from 22 cmH
2
36 cmH
O. The rotor rotates clockwise (Fig.
2
9b).

NOTE
During preoperative adjustment through
the sterile packaging, the Adjustment Tool
is only placed on the valve. Do not press
the push-button. Excessive pressure with
the Adjustment Tool can damage the valve
housing and impair its function.
If the implantation site is unfavourably cho-
sen or the skin above the valve is too thick,
the adjustable Gravitational Unit may no
longer be able to be adjusted. The valve
then works with unchangeable pressure
levels. The patient should be made aware
of this risk.
Swelling of the skin may make adjustment
difficult for a few days after the operation.
