Do not allow system or system components to freeze; do not expose filter assem-
bly to direct sunlight (ultra violet light).
Step 1. Turn off cold water supply to faucet by closing shutoff valve located under
the sink. If your sink does not have a shutoff valve you will need to turn off
the water supply to the house. Open faucet to relieve pressure. Cut the
3/8-inch copper cold water line leading to the faucet and bend the ends
slightly apart (Figure 1).
Step 2. Insert the quick connect fittings onto each end of the copper line (Figure
2).
NOTE: If you need to remove the quick connect fitting, simply hold down
the spring-loaded retaining collar while pulling the fitting off the copper or
plastic water line. For proper sealing of the quick connect fittings, it is
extremely important for the outside edge of the copper or plastic tubing to
be smooth, straight and free from any burrs.
Copper water line: Cut the water line with a tubing cutter if possible. If
you do not have a tubing cutter you may use a hack saw but you must
remove any burrs with a file.
Plastic water line: Cut the water line at a 90 degree angle with a sharp
IN knife. We recommend a fresh cut on the tubing each time the filter is
change to ensure a proper seal.
Step 3. Mount the filter housing to the wall using screws supplied. Allow at least
3" clearance under filter assembly for cartridge changing. Insert the 3/8-
inch plastic water line into each side of the filter housing and into the
quick connect fittings installed onto the copper water line (Figure 3).
NOTE: Position filter as shown to insure proper flow direction. Filter ports
are marked "IN" and "OUT".
Step 4. Turn on the water supply slowly with faucet open. Thoroughly flush the fil-
ter by running water for 20 minutes.
When to change the filter cartridge
Change filter cartridge after 1,000 gallons usage or sooner if water flow is notice-
ably reduced. Inspect O-Ring for damage and lubricate if necessary. O-Ring should
be changed every third cartridge change to ensure proper sealing.
