The system and installation must comply with all state and local laws and reg-
ulations.
"Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown qual-
ity, without adequate disinfection before or after the system."
Min./Max. operating pressure . . . .138kPa/862kPa (20 psi/125 psi)
Min./Max. operating temperature . . . . .4.5°C/37.7°C (40°F/100°F)
Step 1. After selecting the location where you will install your filter in the
water line, determine if existing shut off valves will isolate the filter
housing during cleaning. It is important to have valves on both sides
of the filter housing. If you are installing the filter housing near the
main water shut-off valve, you may need to add only one additional
valve just past the filter to prevent back flow of water from the plumb-
ing system during filter cleaning.
NOTE: The filter can be installed on the suction side of a jet or sprin-
kler pump. However, in this case the purge feature will not function
and the filter must be cleaned manually.
Step 2. Turn off the water supply and drain the water lines by opening a
faucet in an upstairs sink in the house and one in the basement of the
house. Measure and cut the water line based on your individual
installation (Figure 1).
Step 3. Slide the filter into position in the water line taking careful note of the
proper water flow direction (Figure 2). Glue the filter housing into
position using PVC cleaner and cement. If you are installing the filter
in a metal water line, purchase and install the appropriate adapters.
Turn on the water supply and test for leaks.
When to clean the filter cartridge
When sand and silt fill the purge chamber approximately 1/2 full it is time to
clean the filter.
Step 1. To remove sand and silt that has collected in the purge chamber,
open the ball valve and allow the water to flush the sand (Figure 3).
NOTE: If the filter is installed on the suction side of the pump, remove
the purge chamber and clean it out by hand. DO NOT open the purge
chamber while the pump is running, as any dirt in the chamber will
be sucked into the pump.
Step 2. Turn off the water and relieve system pressure by opening the purge
valve.
Step 3. Remove the clear housing and clean the mesh screen with a soft
brush.
Step 4. Reassemble the housing, turn the water supply on and check for leaks.
