Do not allow system or system components to freeze; do not expose filter
assembly to direct sunlight (ultra violet light).
Step 1. Remove existing faucet aerator (Figure 1).
Step 2. Install filter diverter valve (Figure 2). Some brands of faucets may
require the use of one of the adapters supplied with the filter.
Step 3. Turn on the water at the faucet and pull the knob on the diverter
(Figure 3). Water should begin to flow from the filter. Water will flow
black at first as carbon dust flushes from filter; this is normal. It
should clear during the flush cycle. If not, check for a defective filter
cartridge.
Step 4. After water starts to flow, turn the filter upside down and let the
water flow until all the air is purged from the filter. When it runs a
solid stream, turn it right side up again and thoroughly flush the filter
by running water for 10 minutes. When using FPWF-TO1, flush for
20 minutes. Turn off the water at the faucet. The diverter will auto-
matically reset to the bypass position.
When to change the filter cartridge
Change the filter cartridge after 1,000 gallons usage or sooner if bad taste
and odor returns, or if the water flow is noticeably reduced.
Inspect O-Ring for damage and lubricate with water if necessary. O-Ring
should be changed every third cartridge change to ensure proper sealing.
