9 TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
Transporting
The outboard must be transported upright (1). If the engine needs to be deployed, perform
according to positions (2) and (3).
CAUTION:
Do not tilt the engine when it is attached to the boat and towed by trolley. The motor can be
detached from the mounting bracket and fall off. Transport the motor in its normal operating
position (1) whenever possible. If you need to transport it tilted, use an extra fixing device.
When transporting, pay attention with the fuel tank.
Do not fill the fuel tank beyond its maximum capacity, because with heating, gasoline expansion
may occur, which can lead to fuel leakage.
Be careful not to stand under the raised engine, even if it has a support.
Place a towel or cloth under the motor to protect it from damage when in positions 2 and 3.
Put a protective bracket when transporting the engine lying down (4).
STORAGE
When storing your outboard for extended periods (2 months or more), some procedures
are advised to avoid excessive damage.
ATTENTION:
Keep the outboard in an upright position when storing it. If you need to store the engine lying
down (on the side), use a support and drain all engine fuel in advance.
Make sure that the cooling water has been drained completely before placing the outboard.
Keep the outboard in a dry, well-ventilated environment, not leaving it directly in sunlight.
It is recommended to consult your authorized TOYAMA dealer for the procedures, but if
you wish, you can do so with some tools.
1. Clean the outboard externally using fresh, clean water
2. Disconnect the fuel hose and tighten the breather plug on the tank.
3. Remove the upper fairing from the equipment;
4. Position the outboard in the test tank
5. Fill the tank with fresh water until the water level in the tank is above the sacrificial anode.
