The system and installation must comply with all state and local laws and regu-

Do not allow filter to freeze; do not expose filter assembly to direct sunlight
(ultra violet light).
Step 1. Turn off the water line leading to the ice maker, relieve water pressure
and cut in a convenient location where the filter is to be installed.
NOTE: For proper sealing of the quick connect fittings, it is extremely
important for the outside edge of the copper or plastic tubing to be
smooth, straight and free from any burrs.
Copper water line: Cut the water line with a tubing cutter if possible. If
you do not have a tubing cutter you may use a hack saw but you must
remove any burrs with a file.
Plastic water line: Cut the water line at a 90 degree angle with a sharp
knife. We recommend a fresh cut on the tubing each time the filter is
change to ensure a proper seal (Figure 1).
Step 2. Insert the supply end of the tubing into the filter (Figure 2). Do not con-
nect the ice maker to the filter until after Step 3 has been completed.
Gently pull the tubing to be sure the quick connect fittings locked the
tubing in place. If you need to remove the tubing from the filter, depress
the retainer ring on the filter end while gently pulling on the tubing
(Figure 3).
Step 3. Before completing the installation, flush the filter to remove carbon fines.
Turn on the water supply and fill a household bucket twice – approxi-
mately 4 gallons (Figure 4).
NOTE: Failure to properly flush the carbon fines from the filter may
cause damage to your ice maker.
Step 4. Connect the ice maker supply line to the filter. Gently pull the tubing to
be sure the quick connect fittings have locked the tubing in place. Turn
on the water supply to the ice maker and check for leaks.
When to change the filter cartridge
The filter should be changed after 750 gallons for Model FPWF-IM; after 630
gallons for Model FPWF-IM2, or every 6 months. The filter life will depend on
your individual water conditions and may need to be changed sooner. If bad
taste and odor return it is time to change the filter.
