INSTALLATION
3,1
PLACEMENT
Place the machine on the lower portion of the cart Art.1426.
3,2
START-UP
Only skilled personnel should install the machine . Connec-
tions must be carried out according to current regulations,
and in full observance of safety laws.
The cooling unit is supplied without refrigerant.
To fill the tank, unscrew the cap (G) and add approximately
5 liters of refrigerant.
Connect a 16A three-phase socket to the power cable and
provide power to the machine, after first making sure that
the supply voltage matches the one shown on the
specifications plate and that the earth socket is in good
working order.
Connect the cooling hoses of the torch to the corresponding
fittings: L
hot water inlet and L1
Connect the torch connector to the socket H of the cooling
unit and the connector I to the socket C of the generator.
The generator may be powered through the socket E. In this
case, the entire system may be turned on and off by means
of the switch A.
It is important that the tank always be kept at the "max" level
during use for maximum performance. Therefore, periodi-
cally check the level through the slot (F).
The refrigerant must be the same type used for automotive
cooling circuits This can be made by mixing water (preferably
de-ionized) with glycol-based antifreeze. The concentration
depends on the ambient conditions:
20% antifreeze with an ambient temperature of -9°C
30% antifreeze with an ambient temperature of -17°C
Use ETHYLENE glycol-based antifreeze; avoid using
PROPYLENE glycol.
Important! This mixture serves not only to keep the refriger-
ant fluid at very low temperatures, but also prevents lime
buildup from hard water, which would interfere with smooth
operation of the system, especially the pump. We therefore
recommend using antifreeze even during the summer.
Warning! Extended dry use of the pump may jeopardize its
efficiency and life-span.
To protect the torch, there is a pressure switch at the pump
outlet to control the delivery pressure. Should the pressure
drop due to a lack of fluid or because the pump is jammed,
the pressure switch stops the generator through the connec-
tor I. This problem is often indicated by a specific warning
lamp on the generator itself.
Remember to shut off the machine when you have
finished welding.

OPERATING LOGIC (only for GR51 Art. 1338)
This machine is equipped with an electronic circuit to
control the motor-driven pump and fan.
Follow the installation instructions given in paragraph 3,2.
When the switch A is turned on, the pump starts running for
30 sec. to send water into the torch pipes.
If welding does not begin after this time, the motor-driven
pump and fan will stop.
When welding begins, the electronic circuit starts the motor-
driven pump and fan. When welding is finished, they will
continue running for 120 sec. to cool the torch.
If using an air-cooled torch, the connector must be fitted to
socket C on the generator to prevent the motor-driven pump
and fan from running needlessly every time welding begins.
If using the generator for MMA welding, and if the generator
is connected to the cooling unit, the pump runs for only 30
sec. when the switch A is turned on.

MAINTENANCE.
Note: All repair work must be done by qualified personnel.
Always unplug the power cord from the mains before perform-
ing any kind of inspection inside the unit.
Periodically remove dust or other foreign matter from inside
the unit, especially the radiator.
Make sure all hose clamps are firmly tightened, all fittings are
intact and check the refrigerant level.
Note:
In Art. 1337 the pressure switch microswitch must be
connected to the NC contacts when the switch A is
turned OFF.
In Art. 1338 the pressure switch microswitch must be
connected to the NO contacts when the switch A is
turned OFF.
6.1
PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE AFTER REPAIRS.
After repairs, always make sure to arrange the wiring so that
those parts connected to the power supply are properly
isolated.
Do not allow wires to come into
