e) Do not overestimate yourself. Make sure you have a firm stance
and keep your balance at all times. This will let you have better
control of the device during unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep
your hair, clothes, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose
clothing, jewelry, or long hair can become tangled in moving
parts.
g) If connections for dust-suction and collection equipment can be
attached, make sure that these have been connected and are
being used correctly. Using this equipment reduces hazards
caused by dust.
Careful handling and use of power tools
a) Do not overload the device. Use the power tool designed for your
work. With the right power tool, you will work better and more
safely within the stated power range.
b) Never use a power tool that has a defective switch. A power tool
that cannot be turned on or off is dangerous and must be
repaired.
c) Pull the plug from the electric socket before you make any
adjustments on the device, exchange accessories, or put the
device away. This precaution prevents unintentional starting of
the device.
d) Power tools not in use should be kept out of the reach of chil-
dren. Do not let any person use the device who is not familiar
with it or who has not read these instructions. Power tools are
dangerous if used by inexperienced people.
e) Maintain the tool with care. Check to make sure that movable
device parts function flawlessly and do not jam and if parts are
broken or so damaged the functioning of the device is impaired.
Have damaged parts repaired before using the device. Many
accidents have their cause in poorly maintained power tools.
f)
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Carefully serviced cutting
tools with sharp cutting edges jam less frequently and are easier
to operate.
g) Use the power tools, accessories, insert tools, etc. in accordance
with these instructions and in such a manner specified for this
particular type of device. While doing so, take the work
conditions and the job to be carried out into consideration. The
use of power tools for purposes other than the intended purpose
can lead to dangerous situations.
Service
a) Have your device repaired only by qualified specialists and only
with genuine spare parts. This ensures the safety of the device
remains preserved.
Additional precautionary measures during surface milling:
Never use damaged or deformed milling cutters.
Replace worn milling cutters in due time
Always wear safety glasses (risk of the tool breaking)
Wear a dust mask if applicable.
Use only accessories and spare parts recommended by
PROXXON (comply with max. permissible speeds).
Always use dust extraction (use only suitable vacuum cleaners
for this / fire hazard due to sparks).
Keep fingers away from rotating or quickly moving tools (mill,
etc.).

Description of the machine:

A hand-guided surface mill is one of the most versatile power tools
in existence and the application areas are almost inexhaustible. It is
suited for milling grooves, cutting tapers, rabbet milling, profile
milling, etc. The many, many possibilities often become apparent only
after working with the mill cutter. The most varied materials such as
wood, synthetics, acryl, MDF, gypsum board, etc. can be processed.
We supply corresponding and sensible accessories for you to be able
to do that right from the start: a parallel inset and a circular limit stop.
A host of possible applications can be carried out with these two
tools. You will find additional information about their usage in the in-
structions at hand.
The mill cutter, the rotating tool in your Proxxon surface miller driven
by a powerful universal motor, achieves a speed of 27,500 rpm and
thus enables very precise and clean work. Collet chucks for mounting
the mill cutter are supplied in various sizes, allowing you to use tools
with differing shank diameters.
Tool exchange is fast and comfortable thanks to the shaft lock pro-
vided with a stop button.
The foot of the MOF is made from die-cast aluminum for reasons of
stability and precision. In order to ensure optimal antifrictional pro-
perties and the greatest possible planarity, a synthetic plate is
attached to the bottom.
The device itself is guided into both columns. One of these takes on
the additional function of a depth-control stop. The milling depth can
be precisely adjusted with the thumbnut after making a zero setting
(this depth-control stop also enables on-the-fly submersion of the
mill into the workpiece with the motor running).
For quick pre-adjustment of the mill depth without special
requirements on precision, the mill cutter can be quickly and simply
moved within the guide columns after releasing the locking lever. The
integrated suction device (for connection to a vacuum cleaner)
prevents dust nuisances and ensures "clean" work results from this
point of view, also.
