Installation process:
Note
The installation of the driving profile selection must be carried out by a competent workshop. Special tools are

needed for the installation as well as detailed, vehicle-specific manuals. Incorrect fitting may lead to damage to the
vehicle or the supplied components.
The work to be performed, as described in these installation instructions, may vary in some circumstances as a

result of model improvement measures. As such, changes to the wiring colours or even the fitting locations cannot
be discounted. In view of this, please ensure that you always use the appropriate current circuit diagram or the
current vehicle workshop manual.
Secure the wires so that they cannot come into contact with any moving parts of the vehicle and so that they cannot

chafe on any metal edges.

1.1 Preparation work on the vehicle
Note
When changing the vehicle configuration it must be ensured that the current version of ODIS Service is used on the
vehicle diagnostics tester (see above "Required special tools, testing and measuring equipment and auxiliary
equipment").
 When the ignition is switched off, connect the vehicle diagnostics tester with ODIS service to the vehicle
diagnostics socket.
 Switch on the ignition.
 Carry out the online update coding of all affected control units:
01 Engine electronics

09 BCM electronic central electric unit

13 Cruise control

19 Diagnostics interface for databus

44 Power steering
◆
5F Information electronics
◆
 Turn off the ignition.
 Terminate the connection to the vehicle diagnostics tester.

The illustration shows a diagram of the components in the Golf.

In the Sportsvan the left centre console switch module -4- or the right centre console switch module (not illustrated)
◆
will be replaced (see switch module supplied). All additional steps are carried out in the same way.
The supplied wiring harness -7- must be routed from the centre console switch module -4- to the onboard supply
control unit -8- and connected to the appropriate plugs.
 Remove the footwell trim -1- and dash panel cover -2- on the driver side.

 Remove the operating and display unit trim -3- from the centre console.
