Operation

5 OPERATION
CAUTION! Danger of burns. The gearbox
housing becomes hot during operation.
Do not touch the gearbox housing.
NOTE Use the single carrying belt for this at-
tachment.
5.1

Turning the cutter head (03)

The cutter head can be turned in steps. This
means it can be adjusted as required for the
work.
WARNING! Danger of cutting injuries.
Danger of cutting injuries when reaching into the
cutting blade.
Always switch off the appliance before turn-
ing the cutter head.
1. Press and hold unlocking lever (03/1).
2. Turn cutter head (03/2) to the desired posi-
tion.
3. Release unlocking lever. The cutter head
must engage.

Pulling off the protective cover (04)

1. Before switching on the appliance, pull the
protective cover (04/1) off the cutting blade
(04/2).

ing instructions.
5.4

Oiling the cutting blade (05)

WARNING! Danger of cutting injuries.
Danger of cutting injuries when reaching into the
cutting blade.
Always switch off the appliance before oiling
the cutting blade.
Perform the following at regular intervals during
work:
1. Oil cutting blade (05/1) with environmentally
friendly lubricating oil (05/2).
This will allow the cutting blade to run more easily
and it does not get hot.

WARNING! Increased risk of falling.
There is a greater risk of falling if work is carried
out from an elevated position (e.g. ladder).
always work with the appliance from the
ground and make sure that you are standing
securely.
Heed the safety instructions.
Cut the hedge regularly and only at the per-
mitted times.
Only cut off the thin branches and new
growth on the surface of the hedge; do not
cut too deep.
Always cut the two sides of a hedge first, fol-
lowed by the top. This prevents cut material
from falling into areas that you have not yet
trimmed.
Hedges should always be trimmed into a
trapezoidal shape (tapering toward the top).
This prevents the leaves on the lower
branches from being shaded out (06).

7 MAINTENANCE AND CARE

WARNING! Danger of cuts and lacera-
tions. Danger of cuts and lacerations when
reaching into sharp-edged, moving appliance
parts and into cutting tools.
Before maintenance, care and cleaning work,
always switch off the appliance.
Always wear protective gloves during mainte-
nance, care and cleaning work.
Do not expose the appliance to rain or mois-
ture.
Clean plastic parts with a cloth; do not use
cleaning agents or solvents.
Inspect the cutting blade for damage and
have it replaced, if damaged.
Clean the cutting blade and spray with corro-
sion protection oil.

8 HELP IN CASE OF MALFUNCTION

CAUTION! Risk of injury. Sharp-edged
and moving appliance parts can lead to injury.
Always wear protective gloves during mainte-
nance, care and cleaning work!
NOTE For malfunctions that are not listed in
this table or that you cannot resolve yourself,
please contact our customer service.
