DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY

Galletti S.p.A., with head office in via Romagnoli 12/a, 40010 Bentivoglio
(BO) - Italy, declare herewith under its own responsibility that the S 80
series vertical air projection fan heaters - units designed for heating
systems - are manufactured in accordance with EEC Directives 73/23,
89/392, 91/368, 93/44 and 93/68, 89/336.

BEFORE THE INSTALLATION

Read this manual carefully.
Installation and maintenance should be carried out by technical personnel
qualified for this type of machine, in compliance with current safety regulations.
On receiving the unit, please check it and ensure it has not been damaged in
transit.
2
USE AND OPERATING LIMITS
Galletti S.p.A. shall not be held liable where the unit has been installed by non-
qualified personnel, it has been used improperly or under conditions that are not
permitted by the manufacturer, the maintenance operations specified in this
manual have not been carried out or where non-original spare parts have been
used.
Operating limits are shown at the end of this chapter; all other uses are considered
improper.
In choosing where to install the unit, comply with the following points:
- do not install the unit in rooms where inflammable gases are present
- do not spray water directly on the unit;
- Install the unit on ceilings that bear its weight
Keep the unit in its packaging until it is ready to be installed, to prevent dust getting
inside it.
Power must be cut off before carrying out installation, maintenance and
cleaning operations.
If the unit is installed in rooms which are used discontinuously, keep the
temperature of the rooms over 0°C or add anti-freeze solutions in water to avoid
water freezing inside the heat exchanger.
Do not modify the electrical wiring inside the unit or any other parts of the unit.

5
INSTALLATION
Remove the fan heater from the packaging and check that the installation height
and action radius comply with the indications reported on the technical catalogue
according to polarity and to the types of diffusers used, if any. The maximum
installation height is shown in figure 3.
Use a proper lifting device (a lift truck is advisable) to position the heating element
for installation, resting it on the fins side.
The unit is suitable for ceiling installation with vertical air projection.
The unit must be perfectly levelled so as to prevent air pockets formation inside
the heat exchanger.
For the connection to the hoses it is advisable to mount at the unit inlet (for water
operation units inlet hose connection to the lower hydraulic fitting is advisable to
facilitate air venting; for steam operation units the inlet hose must be connected
to the upper hydraulic fitting to facilitate condensate drainage) and at the outlet a
shut off valve and a 3-piece connecting coupling. This will permit to easily removed
the unit in case of reactive maintenance without having to drain the water off.
For the mountinguse the eyebolts on the upper part of the unit Ensure that the
supporting chains, the studs and the surface used be able to support the unit and
that the distance from the ceiling be not lower than that reported in figure 2.

ELECTRICAL WIRING

The motors used as standard on S80 fan heaters are of the 1-speed enclosed,
asynchronous three-phase type (220 V for delta connection, 400 V for star
connection).
If fitted with a capacitor, the motors used as standard for models from S610 to S841
can be powered by a 230 V single-phase supply.

S630 - S631
S810 - S811 - S820 - S821
S830 - S831 - S840 - S841
The 4/8 pole -1400/700 rpm motors (Dahlander) are of the single-voltage type -
220 V or 400 V.
The 4/6 pole (1400/900 rpm) and 6/8 pole (900/700 rpm) motors are of the single-
voltage type with 2 windings.
Make the electrical connections with the power supply turned off and in
accordance with current applicable safety standards.
Make sure that the mains voltage is the same as the voltage shown on the unit
rating-plate.
Wiring must be carried out by qualified personnel only.
Strictly adhere to the electrical diagram for the type of installation.
For each fan heater it is mandatory to install a line circuit-breaker (IL) with fuses
(FL) in an easily accessible position to serve as an emergency stop device.
All motors must be protected by a suitable overload cut-out set to a current 10-
15% higher than the value given on the unit rating-plate.
Wiring diagrams are reported in figures 4 through10.
