Electrical safety

This tool is double insulated; therefore no earth
wire is required. Always check that the power
supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating
plate.
Inspect tool cords periodically. If the supply cord is

damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an
authorised STANLEY Service Centre in order to avoid a
hazard.
Using an extension cable
Always use an approved extension cable suitable for the
u
power input of this tool (see technical data). Before use,
inspect the extension cable for signs of damage, wear and
ageing.
Replace the extension cable if damaged or defective.
u
When using a cable reel, always unwind the cable
completely. Use of an extension cable not suitable for the
power input of the tool or which is damaged or defective
may result in a risk of fire and electric shock.

Assembly.
Warning! To prevent accidental operation, turn off and
unplug tool before performing the following operations.
Failure to do this could result in serious personal injury.
Cutter Bit Assembly (Fig B)
Wearing protective gloves while fitting and changing router bits
is recommended.
Reverse the unit;
u
Use wrench #10mm (16) to lock the spindle (4), meanwhile
u
anticlockwise rotate wrench #17mm (17) to release the
collet nut (6);
Take out the collet nut (6) and replace the collet (5) if
u
required;
Insert the shaft of cutter bit in the collet (5) then tighten the
u
collet nut (6) by wrench #10 (16) and wrench #17 (17);
Apply the reverse procedure to remove the cutter bit.
u
Warning: Never tighten the collet nut without a bit installed.
Tightening an empty collet nut, even by hand, can damage
the collet.
Note: cutter bit insert and removal could be operated after
taking off the motor unit from the base.
Routing Depth Adjustment
Loose the knob (8) on the base (9)
u
Move the motor unit (3) to the proper position, using the
u
scale as a guide for routing depth setting. Tight the knob (8)
Check the routing depth by carrying out a practical test and
u
correct it if required.
Operation
Warning! Always observe the safety instructions and
applicable regulations.
Warning! To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, turn
tool off and disconnect tool from power source before making
any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or
accessories.
Warning! The voltage of the power source must match the
voltage specified on the rating plate of the power tool.
Warning! Never attempt to work with the power tool held upside
down. This is dangerous and can lead to serious accidents.
Switch on/off (Fig.C)
To switch on the power tool, set the on/off switch (1) to I. To
switch off the power tool, set the on/off switch (1) to 0.
