If the turntable stops during mounting due to excessive
bead tension, stop the procedure, turn the turntable
back slightly, press the part of the bead already
mounted down into the rim, if necessary using a bead
pusher (optional), then continue mounting. With easily
mountable tyres and/or a skilled operator, mounting is
possible without interruptions.
One or two optionally available bead pushers (1, Fig.
21) or the pneumatic mounting tool (2, Fig. 21) can be
C
used to hold the tyre still during mounting.
9. Infl ating a tire
For safety reasons, wear safety goggles and ear
plugs when infl ating a tire, particularly when using
infl ating devices with air jets.
When infl ating a tire always follow WdK and
applicable national guidelines and relevant safety
standards to avoid most personal injuries and
material damage.
The infl ating pressure must not exceed the
tire operating pressure by more than 50%
(recommended by WdK, German rubber industry
economic association). Seating pressure should not
exceed 3.3 bar. The fi nal pressure must not exceed
4,5 bar.
9.1 General information about tire infl ating
devices
For use in Germany, tire infl ating devices (Fig.
22-26) are subject to German law with respect
to calibration (Offi cial Journal - Measuring and
calibration system law of 11 July 1969, paragraph
one, No. 2, section 3).
Pressure gauge calibration lasts for two years after
the end of the calendar year in which the equipment
was last calibrated. For calibration in accordance
with German regulations, the year until which the
equipment is considered calibrated is specifi ed and/
or for EC calibration, the date when the equipment
was calibrated is stated.
The operator is responsible for any recalibration.
When calibration has to be repeated, the equipment
user must request calibration at the relevant offi ce.
For safety reasons a quick-infl ating valve preset to
4,5 bar is fi tted upstream of the pressure gauge for
the pedal-operated infl ating device, guaranteeing
that the maximum infl ating pressure does not
exceed 4,5 bar. All valve switching operations during
infl ation are clearly audible as a clicking noise,
therefore this is not a malfunction.
If wheels require a higher pressure, they have to be
infl ated using a special infl ation station equipped
with safety devices (such as a safety cage, retaining
means and the like).
