Instructions which must be followed by the motorisation and home automation professional
installing the ilmo 40 WT drive.
Never drop, knock, drill or submerge the drive.
Install a separate control point for each motorisation.
Never connect 2 control points to a single motor.
2. 1. InsTallaTIon
Check the strength of the roller shutter and its fittings.
Check that the drive used is suitable for the size of roller shutter, to avoid the risk of
damaging the roller shutter and/or the Somfy product.
For information about the compatibility of the drive with the roller shutter and accessories,
contact the roller shutter manufacturer or Somfy.
2. 1. 1. Preparing the drive
Check that the inner diameter of the tube is 37 mm or
greater.
Fit the accessories required to integrate the

motorisation in the roller tube:
• Either fit the drive wheel a on the drive.
• Or fit the crown b and the drive wheel c on the drive.
Measure the length (L1) between the inner edge of the

motorisation head and the rim of the drive wheel.
2. 1. 2. Tube preparation
Install a ilmo 40 WT motor in a roller tube with a minimum thickness of 0.5 mm and a
smooth inner surface: with no welding, crimping, folding, etc. inside the tube.
Cut the roller tube to the required length, depending on

the motorised product.
Deburr the roller tube and remove the swarf.

For smooth roller tubes, cut a notch with the following
3)
measurements:
Ø 40 x 1.5 mm
Ø 40 x 1 mm
2. 1. 3. Drive/tube assembly
Slide the motor into the roller tube.

For smooth roller tubes, position the notch previously
cut on the crown.
Attach the roller tube to the drive wheel with three
2)
steel pop rivets Ø 4 mm placed:
at least 5 mm from the far end of the drive wheel: L1
- 5, and no more than 15 mm from the far end of the
drive wheel: L1 - 15
The screws or pop rivets must only be attached to
the drive wheel and not to the motor.
