14 - CLEANING, DISINFECTING AND STERILIZATION OF REUSABLE COLLECTION
JAR
The jars must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilized after each use, as described
below:
Cleaning
Separate the main components of the jar such as the graduated vessel, the lid and
the float. Wash all surfaces of the device thoroughly with hot water at a temperature
not exceeding 60°C. Dry the parts thoroughly with a clean, soft non-abrasive cloth.
Disinfecting
The reusable collection jar after cleaning can be immersed in a cold disinfectant
solution (e.g. a solution containing up to 2% sodium hypochlorite). Follow the ma-
nufacturer's instructions.
Sterilization
Place the parts in an autoclave for a sterilization cycle with a steam temperature of
121°C for at least 15 minutes (preferably not exceeding 30 minutes) taking care to
position the graduated jar upside down (with its bottom upward). Steam sterilization
may be performed for a maximum of 15 cycles without adversely affecting the cha-
racteristics of the component materials used and therefore functionality.
Sterilization may alter the colour or appearance of the components, but this will not
affect operation of the device. However, a visual inspection of all the components is
recommended before each assembly following sterilization.
15 - ANTIBACTERIAL FILTER & CONNECTION TUBES
The antibacterial filter and the PVC connection tubes are not steam-sterilizable and
must be considered single-use. The bacterial filter must be replaced in case of con-
tamination, yellowing or decrease in performance of the vacuum system. The filter
must be replaced whenever the vacuum system is used on multiple patients. In any
case, the filter should be replaced at least once every two months.
16 - SAFETY FLOAT
During cleaning and sterilization of the reusable jar, it is essential that the float
inside the lid of the jar is removed and later reassembled for use. The operations
to be performed are:

e.1) Open the jar, remove the float guide (9) from its lodging in the jar lid (12).
e.2) Remove the float body (10) from the guide (9) and remove the rubber stopper.
Assembly
e.3) Insert the rubber stopper (11) onto the float body (10) with the widest part of
the stopper facing upward.
e.4) Insert the float body (10) with the stopper (11) into the float guide (9).
e.5) Insert the float guide (10) onto its lodging in the lid of the jar (12).
e.6) Check that the float and stopper move freely inside the float guide.
17 - DISPOSAL OF THE ASPIRATOR
The aspirator and its components are made with plastic and metal materials. Their
disposal must comply with all applicable regulations.

authorized laboratory is necessary.

20 - ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
This device complies with the requirements of CEI EN 60601-1-2:2015 for the electro-
magnetic compatibility of medical devices. Compliance with EMC standards does not
guarantee the total immunity of the product; some devices (cell phones, pagers, etc.),
when used near medical equipment, can stop it from functioning properly.
21 - WARNINGS
The product has been designed with particular attention to patient and user safety.
Nevertheless, the following precautions must be taken.
• The lithium battery must only be replaced by authorised personnel
• The aspirator must only be used by trained and qualified personnel.
• Do not modify this equipment without the manufacturer's authorization.
• Before operating the aspirator in any way, read all the instructions carefully, paying
particular attention to warnings and how to prepare and use the device.
• Check that every precaution has been taken to avoid any danger arising from acci-
dental contact with blood or bodily fluids.
• The aspirator must only be used for suction as indicated in this operating instruction
manual as in the paragraph "Intended Use". Other uses are not permitted.
• The aspirator is not suitable for thoracic drainage.
• The vacuum generated in the aspirator suction outlet, in its connecting tubes or col-
lection jar may represent a potential hazard.
• The connecting tubes (PVC) between the various components are for single-use.
• If the antibacterial filter and the safety float do not intervene and aspirated fluid gets
into the aspirator unit, immediately interrupt the power supply.
• The device is protected against access to hazardous parts and against vertically fal-
ling drops of water (IP34). IP protection is no longer guaranteed while the unit is being
recharged.
• If the suction unit gets wet, be sure to dry all the electric parts before connecting it to
the wall socket or to the wall bracket.
• The aspirator is not suitable for use in the presence of anaesthetic mixtures with air,
oxygen or nitrous oxide.
• Do not touch live parts such as the power cord, power supply adapter and the power
button with wet hands.
• In case of an accidental fall into water the aspirator unit can be extracted only after
interrupting the power supply. After such an occurrence the suction unit may not be
used and requires a complete overhaul.
• In use, the aspirator must be kept on a hard level surface to prevent leakage of fluids
from the collection jar. The device must not be used in movement.
• Ensure that the lid of the jar is properly closed in order to avoid accidental spillage
of fluids.
• In use, the aspirator must be kept away from source of heat.
• The power cord and connecting tubes, for their length, may pose a risk of stran-
gulation.
• Some components for their small size, if swallowed, may present a risk of suffocation.
• It is recommended to fully charge the aspirator before each use.
• In case of allergic reaction due to contact with the materials of this device, seek me-
dical attention.
• The manufacturer has defined a useful lifespan of at least five years from first use.
• The battery has an average life span of 2 years. We recommend replacing it after
that period.
