LED #2 (YELLOW): CHARGE
Automatic charge voltage range: 6V BATTERY - from 2V up to 7.2V.
12V / 12.8V BATTERY - from 8V* up to 14.4V. * lowers to 4V if 12V mode is manually enabled.
Low Volt Save (battery voltage < 12.4V / 6.2V): Current is delivered in pulses and slowly increased
to prepare the battery to accept bulk charge.
Bulk charge: A constant current of 0.6A is delivered into the battery, up to a voltage of 7.2V / 14.4V.
Final / absorption charge: Variable current pulses are delivered to bring all cells to equal and full
charge.
LED# 3 (GREEN): 24-7 BATTERY MAINTENANCE.
Maintenance (float) charge voltage: 6V BATTERY: 6.8V. 12V / 12.8V BATTERY - 13.6V.
The maintenance charge cycle consists of 30 minute float charge periods during which current may
be delivered if required by the battery, alternating with a 30 minute 'rest' periods when no current is
delivered.
If the OptiMate senses the battery has suddenly lost charge the program will revert back to charge
mode (LED #2).
ERROR INDICATION: LED #2 (YELLOW) and LED #3 (GREEN) alternating every second:
The battery is unable to retain sufficient charge or is losing charge very fast due to connected
circuitry. A sudden load being switched on while the charger is connected can also cause the battery
voltage to dip significantly.
Recommended: Disconnect the battery from the circuitry it is powering and charge again. If the result
does not improve, have the battery professionally assessed.
CHARGING TIME : For a healthy battery, with size / Ah rating below the maximum recommendation of
28Ah for a Pb (lead-acid battery) or 8Ah for a LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) battery, the program
should advance to LED #3 before the maximum charge time limit of 48 hours has expired. After 48h
of charging (LED #2) the program automatically advances to LED #3. To calculate approximate charge
time for your battery = battery Amp-hour rating (Ah) / 0.6A, e.g. a discharged 8Ah battery should take
