Disassembly
Disassembly
1.
Clean the pump of all debris and deposits.
2. Lay the pump on a smooth, hard surface.
3. Scribe a mark between the seal plate and volute for reference during reassembly.
4. Remove the three hex head screws that hold the volute to the seal plate.
5. Pull the volute from the seal plate.
•
If necessary, lightly tap the volute with a rubber hammer.
6. Remove the three hex head screws, retaining plate, and stationary cutter.
7.
Unscrew the rotating cutter from the motor shaft.
NOTE: The stationary cutter can be removed without having to remove the volute.
8. Slide the impeller and key off the shaft.
9. Remove the seal ring.
Reassembly
1.
Insert the seal ring onto the motor seal plate.
2. Slide the key and impeller back onto the motor shaft.
3. Apply Loctite 242 to the new rotating cutter threads.
4. Screw the cutter onto the motor shaft.
5. Tap the rotating cutter until it is flush with the end of the motor shaft.
6. Install the stationary cutter onto the volute.

Secure the cutter retaining ring with the three hex head screws tightened to 100 in-lbs.
•
The stationary cutter can be flipped over from its previous use.
7.
Ensure the volute and seal plate mounting surfaces are clean.
8. Realign the scribe marks made on the volute and the seal plate during disassembly,
9. Use a rubber mallet to mate the volute to the seal plate.
10. Apply Loctite 242 to the three hex head screws and tighten them to 100 in-lbs.
11. Ensure the rotating cutter and impeller rotates freely.

Insert a flat head screwdriver into the slot at the end of the motor shaft and spin the impeller.
