REWINDING SPOOL FROM BULK LINE (USE
ONLY .065" (1.65 mm) ROUND DIAMETER LINE)
Bulk line is also available for purchase from your local
retailer.
NOTE: Hand wound spools from bulk line are likely

For best results, factory wound spools are recommended.
To install bulk line, follow the steps below:

f Remove the empty spool from the appliance as
described in "REPLACING THE SPOOL."
f Remove any remaining cutting line from the spool.

the line anchoring slots (29) as shown in Fig. S.
f Insert the 3/4" (19mm) end of the bulk line into
the hole (22) in the spool adjacent to the slot as
shown in Fig. T. Make sure the line is pulled tight
against the spool as shown in Fig. T.
f Wind the cutting line onto the spool in the direction
of the arrow on the spool. Make sure to wind the line
on neatly and in layers. Do not crisscross (Fig. U).
f When the wound cutting line reaches the recesses
(31), cut the line. (Fig. T).
f Fit the spool onto the appliance as described in
"REPLACING THE SPOOL".

supply (i.e. remove from the power outlet) before
cleaning or performing maintenance.
b. Use only parts and accessories recommended by the

c. Inspect and maintain the machine regularly. The
machine must only be repaired by authorized personnel.
d. When the machine is not in use, store it in a place
away from the reach of children.
Warning! To avoid serious injury, turn off and unplug
the tool before performing any maintenance.
1. Keep the air intake slots clear to prevent overheating.
2. The cutting line can dry out over time. To keep the line
in optimum conditions, store the pre-coiled
replacement spools or the line in a sealed plastic bag
with a tablespoon of water.
3. Plastic parts can be cleaned using mild soap and a
damp cloth.
4. The line cutter on the end of the guard can become
dull over time. We recommend periodical maintenance
of the blade's edge with a file.
Important! To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY,
repairs, maintenance and adjustment (other than those
listed in this manual) should be performed by authorized
service centers or other qualified service personnel,
always using identical replacement parts.
ACCESSORIES
Warning! The use of accessories not recommended by
BLACK & DECKER for this tool can be dangerous.
Use the BLACK & DECKER model AF-100 replacement
spool. Replace the nylon line (package or pre-coiled
replacement spool) as shown in this manual.
f Use only 0,065" (1,65 mm) diameter monofilament

because they could overload the motor and cause
overheating. The unit only works properly with 0,065"
(1,65 mm) diameter monofilament nylon line. You
can get this line through your local dealer or
