3.3 Bowie Dick test
Use this test to validate the autoclave for wrapped and porous loads sterilization.
3.4 Vacuum test
Use this test to check the vacuum pump and the chamber leakage for a defi ned time.
Vacuum test is recommended to be done everyday before starting the batch steri-
lization.
Ensure that the vacuum gauge in the upper left corner of the screen reaches at least
a value of -0.7 BAR.

3.5 Guidelines to get test an effi cient sterilization
The material to be sterilized needs to be clean, free from any encrusted
or residual material, wash it in a good detergent and distilled water,
then rinse with distilled water.
Do not overload the trays, left a free space of 1 to 2 cm between goods
to allow a free steam circulation and to ease drying.
3.5.1 Sterilization of instruments in bulk
Place the instruments on a tray with water repellent paper leaving
a space between each instrument. Try to keep similar type material
instruments together on a tray.
3.5.2 Sterilization of instruments in pouches or bags
Place only one instrument per bag.
Place the bags on water repellent paper in a vertical position so that
they do not touch each other or the wall of the autoclave. Better use
a rack.
3.5.3 Tubing
Tubing need to be clean and drained. Place tubing so that the openings
on both ends are open. Make sure that the tubes are not touching the
autoclave wall, blocked or twisted and that nothing can block the inside.
3.5.4 Flasks
Never put hermetically sealed fl asks in the autoclave.
Place the contents open end down to prevent any residual water being
left inside.
