Cleaning the Air Filter

If there is a noticeable loss of engine
power
:
Set the Master Control lever (1)
to l
:
Turn the twist lock (2) above the rear
handle 90° counterclockwise.
:
Lift off the carburetor box cover (3)
vertically.
:
Clean away loose dirt from around
the filter.

Unscrew the slotted nuts (4).
:
Remove the filter.
:
Separate the two halves of the filter.

Remove the foam filter element (5)
from the front half (6) and clean or
replace as necessary.
:
Knock the two halves of filter out on
the palm of your hand or blow them
clear with compressed air from the
inside outwards.
In case of stubborn dirt:
:
Wash the filter components in
STIHL universal cleaner or a clean,
non-flammable solution (e.g. warm
soapy water) and then dry.
Do not use a brush to clean the fleece
filter.
:
Always replace a damaged filter
element.
:
Reinstall the air filter.
