Description
The glass break detector keeps a plane glass area within a
maximum radius of 2 m under surveillance.
The glass break detector is supplied from the control panel
with 12 V DC. In quiescent condition the current consumption
is about 0,6 mA. The alarm relay is normally closed, and opens
if power supply is lost or the glass break detector raises an
alarm condition.
In alarm condition, the LED is lit and the current consumption
goes up to about 5 mA. The alarm state is latched. To reset the
glass break detector after an alarm, power supply must be
disconnected. When the power supply reconnects again, the
contact closes and the LED goes off.
The resistance of the closed contacts is about 5 Ω. This
resistance must be considered for installation, especially when
up to max. 20 glass break detectors are connected in one
alarm zone.
Mounting
To be able to detect a possible fall off, the glass break detector
should be mounted horizontally on the glass surface.
The distance between a longer side and of the detector and
the window frame must be 20 mm. The distance between the

side with the cable outlet and the frame must be between 5
and 20 mm. See Figure 2.
If the glass surface is not flat, for example, on a structured
glass, the detection is not possible. Also, it is not allowed to
use the glass break detector on a wired glass or a security
glass, because the wire netting and the plastic foil suppress
mechanical oscillations.
It is important that the glass is not pressed by any object, does
not have any cracks (which can cause false alarms), properly
fixed in the frame and not covered with any foils.
Caution:
The glass break detector is very sensitive. Knocking
at the glass break detector or other improper treatment could
cause a destruction of the detector.
The glass break detector must be mounted at the glass surface
with glue set (see "Optional accessories" on page 2). Follow
the instructions of the manufacturer.
The ceramic bottom of the glass break detector and the joint
area must be cleaned and degreased with spirit or methyl
alcohol.
Caution:
Each alien element between the bottom of the glass
break detector and the glass surface will affect the sensitivity.
