USING
THE DETHATCHER
Dethatchthe lawnonce inthe springand onceinthe fall to clear
deadand/or dyinggrassfrom the lawn,and to allowmoreair to
flow throughthe ground.Grass shouldbe 21/2incheshigh when
dethatched. A fter dethatching, f ertilizeand waterthe lawnto encour-
age quickergrowth.
Be sure lawnisclearof stones,sticks,wire, or other objectswhich
coulddamagedethatcheror engine.Suchobjectscouldbe ac-
cidentlythrownby the dethatcherin anydirectionand cause serious
personalinjury to the operatorand others.

Releasebail interlock a ndengage bladecontrolbail to start
blades.See Figure9.

Setthe heightadjustmentleverto theappropriateslot;2 being
the highestsetting,5 beingthe lowest.Settings3, 4, and 5
are not neededuntilthe bladesare toowornto be effectiveon
setting2. Optimumcuttingdepth is 1/8 of an inch. See Figure10.

tweenthe first and seconddethatchingpaths;rakedethatched
grassfrom first and secondpaththen dethatchbetweenthe two
paths.
Whenturning,pivotdethatcheron back two wheelswith blades
disengaged.
Do not makesharpturns with cuttingbladesengaged.Thiswill
bend blades.

THE DETHATCHER
1.
Setthe heightadjustmentleverto the 1-setting.
2.
Pushto new location.
Do not setthe cuttingbladestoodeep; doingso will shortenthe life
of the bladedrivebelt.
