•
When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects such as paper
clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or any other small metal objects that may establish a con-
nection from one terminal to another. (A short circuit between the two battery terminals can
cause burns or fire.)
•
Under extreme conditions, battery fluid may leak from the battery; avoid contact with your
body. If accidental contact occurs, flush the area with water. If fluid gets in eyes, seek medi-
cal help. (Liquid spilled from the battery may cause irritation or burns).
•
Do not disassemble the battery pack.
•
If the operating time has become excessively long, stop immediately. This can result in
overheating of the tool and possible burns, or even an explosion.
•
Always cover the battery terminal with the battery cover when the battery pack is not in use.
•
Do not expose the battery pack to rain or water. A discharged battery can lead to overload-
ed current, overheating and very possibly to tool failure.
•
Do not store the tool or battery pack where the temperature may reach or exceed 50 °C
(122 °F).
•
Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is completely damaged or defective. The battery
pack may explode in fire. It is recommended to take it to a battery recycling centre. Be care-
ful not to drop or knock the battery.
ADVANTAGES OF LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES
•
A high energy density, i.e. they accumulate a much higher load per unit weight and volume.
•
Lightweight, with equal stored charge, they are lighter and take up less volume than Ni-Mh
and much less than Ni-Cd.
•
They have no memory effect, i.e. they can be recharged immediately after use.
•
Linear discharge: during discharge the battery voltage varies little, which avoids the need for
regular circuitry and makes it easier to determine the charge stored in the battery.
•
Very low self-discharge rate: discharge is progressively 6% over a period of one month and
sometimes six months; at rest it can retain up to 80% of its charge..
TIPS ON MAINTAINING MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE
•
Charge the battery before fully discharging it. Always stop the tool and recharge the battery
when you notice that the tool is low on power.
•
Never recharge a battery pack that is already fully charged. Overcharging will shorten the
life of the battery.
•
Recharge the battery in a room where the temperature is 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F -104°F) and
allow the battery to cool down after charging.
•
Charge the battery when it has not been used for more than 4 months.
IMPORTANT!
We recommend performing at least 3 charge and discharge cycles before using the cordless
rotary hammer for the first time to properly activate the lithium-ion electrolytes.
If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the Authorised Service Centre, by the
manufacturer or by qualified personnel.
