During the seating test ensure that the cranks
turn freely above the thighs, even when going
round a corner. (Test backwards
in freewheel, adjust seat cushion thickness if
necessary ). Set the gap from the crank so that,
when turning the crank, your arms
stretch to a comfortable distance and can bend
easily. The very best drive characteristics are
achieved if you use the adjustment options for
the backrest
and the crank height, in order to establish the
optimum position for you.
Adjusting the backrest is carried out lengthways
by releasing and moving the fixing clamp.
Adjusting the backrest angle is carried out by
adjusting the height of the central tube behind
the backrest.
CauTION!
after making the adjustment, re-tighten all
screws. (see the page on torque)
Height and depth adjustable fork
diagonal adjustment (Fig. 4.15)
Undo the socket head screws (1) on the fork
tube and the hex nuts (2) on the clamp. Push
the crank bracket forwards or backwards.
When the crank is in the required position, the
chain tension will not be correct, so to correct
the tension, chain links MUST be added or re-
moved. This procedure should be carried out by
a qualified technical engineer.
Finally, re-tighten the socket head screws which
fix the crank bracket to the fork.

Vertical adjustment
Undo the socket head screws (3) which fix the
crank bracket to the fork stem, but do not re-
move them.
Move the hand crank unit up or down in the
fork collar, until you have achieved the optimum
position for you.
Tighten the socket head screws (3) to fix the
hand crank in the required position.
Re-tension the chain if necessary.
