Hinweis: Ist das L-RAY-System sowohl mit einem
Com puter als auch mit Geräten verbunden, die
über das Netz ka bel geerdet sind (z. B. Misch-
pult), können aufgrund von Masseschleifen
Brummstö rungen auftreten. Um diese Störungen
zu beseitigen, kann die Audioverbindung über ein
Massetrennfilter (z. B. FGA-202 aus dem Pro-
gramm von „img Stage Line") geführt werden.
7) Zur Stromversorgung die Geräte jeweils über die
PowerCon ® -Buchse (3) an das 230-V-Netz an -
schließen. Ein Netzkabel liegt dem Gerät nicht bei.
Es kann zum Anschluss ein Netzkabel mit einem

PowerCon -Stecker und einem Schukostecker
(z. B. AAC-115P von „img Stage Line") verwendet
werden. Achten Sie auch darauf, dass der Strom-
kreis, an den das Gerät angeschlossen wird, ent-
sprechend hoch abgesichert ist.

Bedienung

1) Die angeschlossene Signalquelle einschalten.
2) Die PA-Anlage mit dem Netzschalter POWER (1)
auf der Rückseite jeder Basseinheit einschalten.
Der Schalter leuchtet zur Betriebs anzeige.
3) Mit dem Regler LEVEL die Lautstärke und beim
Einsatz mehrerer Systeme das Lautstärkever-
hältnis der Systeme zueinander einstellen. [Eine
zusätzliche Änderungsmöglichkeit der Laut -
stärke besteht auch über die Fernsteueroption
des Signalprozessors (
Leuchtet die LED PEAK (10) auf, ist der Ein-
gangspegel zu groß; den Regler entsprechend
zurückdrehen.

Operation

CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! The human ear will get
accustomed to high volumes which
do not seem to be that high any more
after some time. Therefore, do not
further increase a high volume after
getting used to it.

Adjustment of the Signal Processor

The bass speaker unit is equipped with a digital sig-
nal processor (DSP). On the one hand, this proces-
sor serves for splitting the signal to the bass speak -
ers and the mid-high range speaker unit, on the other
hand it offers versatile possibilities for equaliz ing the
frequency response, readjusting the delay time, and
limiting the dynamic range. Due to its factory configu-
ration, the DSP is ready for operation. For modifying
the adjustments, e. g. for adapting the system to the
room acoustics, the supplied PC software and three
different interfaces serve for connecting a PC: USB
(7), RS-232 (8), RS-485 (5 and 6). The control via
RS-485 has clear advantages compared to the other
two interfaces: Much longer cables are possible and
the connection can each be fed through via the jack
RS-485 OUTPUT (6) to the RS-485 INPUT (5) of the
next system.

Einstellung des Signalprozessors

In der Basseinheit befindet sich ein digitaler Signal-
prozessor (DSP), der zum einen die Aufteilung des
Signals auf die Basslautsprecher und die Mittel-
hochtoneinheit übernimmt und zum anderen vielsei-
tige Möglichkeiten zur Frequenzgangkorrektur,
Laufzeitkorrektur und zur Dynamikbegrenzung bie-
tet. Vom Werk aus ist der DSP bereits einsatzbereit
konfiguriert. Für eine Änderung der Einstellungen,
z. B. zur Anpassung der Anlage an die Raumakustik,
dienen die mitgelieferte PC-Software und drei ver-
schiedene Schnittstellen zum Anschluss eines PC:
USB (7), RS-232 (8), RS-485 (5 und 6). Die Steue-
rung über RS-485 hat dabei gegenüber den beiden
anderen Schnittstellen deutliche Vorteile: Es sind
wesentlich längere Leitungen möglich und die Ver-
bindung kann jeweils über die Buchse RS-485 OUT-
PUT (6) zum Eingang RS-485 INPUT (5) des nächs-
ten Systems durchgeschleift werden.
Durch die Möglichkeit, die Systeme individuell zu
benennen, können bis zu 10 Systeme über densel-
ben Datenbus vom Steuerprogramm getrennt konfi-
guriert werden.

6.1 Installation der PC-Software

6.1 Installation of the PC software

the directory DRIVER on the CD. The matching
driver is then automatically installed.

6.3 Establishing the data connection

485 data bus, each system must first be provided
with a name and an individual ID number. This is

6.2 Installation des USB-Treibers

Für die Anbindung über die USB-Schnittstelle wird
ein spezieller Treiber benötigt. Dieser ist auf der bei-
liegenden CD enthalten. Im Installationsdialog, der
nach Anschluss an die USB-Schnittstelle auf dem
Bildschirm erscheint, wird nach dem Suchpfad für
den Treiber gefragt. Daraufhin das Verzeichnis
DRIVER auf der CD auswählen. Der passende Trei-
ber wird dann automatisch installiert.

6.3 Einrichten der Datenverbindung

6.3.1 Steuerung mehrerer Systeme
über den RS-485-Datenbus
Sollen mehrere L-RAY-Systeme über den RS-485-
Datenbus gesteuert werden, muss jedes System
zunächst mit einem Namen und einer individuellen
ID-Nummer bezeichnet werden. Dies ist nur beim
ersten Betrieb erforderlich. Die Systeme speichern
diese Daten und lassen sich so getrennt anspre-
chen. Ist die Bezeichnung bereits erfolgt, kann der
Verbindungsaufbau mit Schritt 9) begonnen werden.
1) Alle Datenverbindungen zwischen den Systemen
trennen.
2) Das erste System über RS-485, RS-232 oder
USB mit dem PC verbinden. Das Programm
„ActiveSpeakerController" starten.
3) Den Menüpunkt „Communications ± Enable
Communications" aufrufen. Das Programm sucht
nach einem angeschlossenen L-RAY-System
und zeigt in der Liste unter „Select Device:" das
gefundene System und unter „Current Device
Information" die aktuelle Nummer und den aktu-
ellen Namen dieses Systems an.
2) Connect the first system via RS-485, RS-232, or
USB to the PC. Start the programme "Active-

3) Call the menu item "Communications ± Enable
Communications". The programme looks for a
connected L-RAY system and shows the system
found in the list under "Select Device:" and the
current number and the current name of this sys-
tem under "Current Device Information".
4) Start the connection set-up with clicking "Con-
nect". (At this moment it is of no importance
which option has been selected under "Data
Configuration".)
5) After the connection has been established and
the data have been read by the system ("-> Pro-
gram Data Transferred OK..." appears in the sta-
tus line below), call the menu item "Device ± Edit
Current Device Information".
The window "Edit current device information"
with the current ID number and the current name
of the connected system is shown.
6) Enter a definite ID number (1 – 10) and a signifi-
cant name (a maximum of 14 characters of the
ASCII set of characters) for the system into the
corresponding field and confirm with "OK". The
data are transferred to the system and shown as
"Current Device ID" and "Current Device Name"
in the main window on the top right.
7) Separate the connection via the menu item
"Communications ± Disable Communications".
"-> Disconnected" appears in the status line.
8) Remove the connection cable from the con-
nected system and connect it to the next system.
Repeat steps 3) to 8) until all systems are clearly
named. Then connect the systems with each other
again and the first system to the PC.
9) Call the menu item "Communications ± Enable
Communications". Now all systems connected
appear in the list under "Select Device:". Select
the system to be configured and then the
