2) DESCRIPTION
2.1) General description
The LTG 410 is a power source with characteristics of constant current intended for TIG welding process
with stick electrodes. It allows carbon steel welding, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper and bronze.
The welding current is adjusted in a constant and precise way through the potentiometer housed in the front
panel or in the remote controls (manual and pedal). It has up and down ramp adjustment resource, in a way
that the current goes up slowly in the begining of the welding and goes down slowly in the end of the welding,
allowing excellent welding finishing.
It has digital ampermeter and voltmeter for the current reading and weld voltage during the welding.
When used for TIG welding it keeps the values of the last welding fixed on the display and when welding with
electrode it shows the empty voltage. It has protection against over temperature which disconnects the
welding current in case the internal temperature of the components rises above safe operating levels, and
then returning to work normally as soon as those values return to normal.
In the TIG mode it has two options for the arc opening, with high frequency or liftarc, adjustment of gas
postflow shielding gas and switching trigger in 2 or 4 strokes. Attached to the Pulse Unit PHA 5 (optional)
supplies pulsed current, especially usefull to welding of thin plates and stainless steel.
It has a HOTSTART function which increases the current in the begining of welding when using stick
electrode making the opening of the arc easy. The cabinet comes with wheels to move it easily around the
workplace, platform for the gas cylinder in the rear part, and it is possilbe to mount in the side, one platform
to hold the colling unit WC8 (Optional).
3) DUTY CYCLE
The duty cycle refers to the time period in which the welding machine can supply a certain maximum
welding current (loading time) and a reference time, according to international regulations. The time
reference is of 10 minutes.
The 60% nominal duty cycle means that the machine can supply simultaneously its nominal welding
current during periods of 6 minutes (loading); each period must be followed by a resting period (the
machine does not supply welding current) of 4 minutes, that is, (6 + 4 = 10 minutes) simultaneously, and
not exceeding the internal temperature limit of the components, according to their design and project.
This guide line and guidance applies to any duty cycle value.
In the LTG 410 the duty cycle allowed increases up to 100% once the welding current used decreases,
inversely, the duty cycle allowed decreases once the welding current increases up to the maximum
current range.
The chart 4.1 shows the authorized loading for the LTG 410.
