High frequency
a) bring the tungsten electrode close to the piece to be weld keeping a gap of approximadely 3
mm.
b) press the torch trigger, immediately the unit which generates high frequency works and then
a spark is produced between the electrode and the piece, in this way the gas is ionized and the
arc between the piece and the electrode is started. When the arc settles the high unit frequency
turns off automatically.
10) Switch of trigger mode It allows the selection of the TIG torch trigger comand in:
2 strokes -
in this mode the welding is kept constant by keeping the trigger of the torch pressed.
4 strokes -
the welding starts and kept constant by pressing the trigger and releasing it, without
having to keep it pressed. To finish the welding just press the trigger again.
11) HOTSTART switch function when positioned in 1, it offers an increase of the current for a short
period when the arc is opened, when the LTG 410 is used for welding with stick electrodes. When
welding in TIG mode it should be kept in position 0.
12) Remote/local switch Depending on selected position it allows the welding current adjustment
through the panel potentiometer of the LTG 410, through the pedal or other remote control or both.
13) Remote control switch when positioned in A allows the current control through the manual remote
control or through the pulse unit. When positioned in B it allows the current control through the pedal
and when positioned in A+B it allows the control through both. In this case the current is controlle
through the pedal is proportional to the current adjusted in the remote control. For example, in case the
remote control is adjusted to 200 ampers the control range of the pedal is from 5 to 200 ampers.
14) Switch to activate the Cooling Unit It allows to turn the cooling unit ON and OFF.
15) Pilot lamp of the cooling unit when lit indicates that the cooling unit is turned on.
16) Over heating lamp indicator. When the light is lit it indicates that the LTG 410 is over heated. In this
case the source doesn´t supplies welding current, the fan continues to work and the welding is
interrupted. When using the cooling unit WC8 the lamp will light in case the water reservoir is empty,
indicating that there´s no refrigeration in the TIG torch. When the source reaches again the safe
operating level of temperature or the water reservoir has the correct water level indicated, the light will
turn off and the welding can the be restarted.
17) Socket to connect the manual remote control or pulse control To connect a remote control unit of
the welding current or a pulse PHA 5 control.
18) Socket to connect the pedal to connect a remote control unit of pedal type.
19) Negative connector to connect the work cable or electrode holder according to the processed to be
used.
20) Positive connector to connect the work cable or the electrode holder according to the process to be
used.
21) Connector for TIG torch to connect the TIG torch.
22) Connector for gas shielding to feed the shielding gas of the TIG torch.
23) Trigger socket to connect the trigger of the TIG torch.
- in this mode the electric arc opening is done in the following way:
