OPERATION
CHIPPING
THIS SHREDDER WAS DESIGNED TO CHIP 10 CM (4") DIAMETER AND SMALLER TREES
AND BRANCHES. NEVER USE THIS MACHINE FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE AS THIS
COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.
PROCESSING TREES AND BRANCHES 10 CM (4") OR SMALLER
Your wood chipper can process dry or green material.
Feed the branch into the crusher hopper.
Keep the branch at the same angle as the hopper of the chipper.
As the branch becomes short and is inside the wood chipper hopper, finish processing by pushing it
into the chipper with the next branch if necessary.
If branches are 5 cm (2") or larger in diameter, feed only one branch at a time into the chipper.
If the branches are less than 5 cm, more than one can be placed in the wood chipper at a time.
Green branches process more easily than hardwood.
Be sure to wear protective gloves when feeding the chipper.
CHIPPING
Use common sense when using your wood chipper.
Learn to recognize the change in the sound of your machine when it is overloaded.
Familiarize yourself with successful operating conditions and avoid those that can overload and
damage the machine.
If the machine jams due to overload or any other cause, stop the machine immediately.
If the machine gets stuck and the motor does not stop, it can:
burn the belt
Ruin the clutch
THIS DAMAGE CAN BE COSTLY AND IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. FOR THIS REASON, IT IS
IMPORTANT THAT YOU IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE MACHINE IF IT GETS STUCK.
Only your operator experience will tell you how fast to feed trees and branches.
Check that the flywheel rotates freely before starting the wood chipper.
Visually check the chipper blade for damage each time you use your chipper.
Check the condition of the blade, the condition of the wear plate, and the nuts and bolts holding the
blade in place for tightness before each use.
To move the pile of processed material, use a shovel, rake or long-handled tool. Never use your hands
or feet.
RELEASE A STUCK DRUM
Stop the engine.
Remove the spark plug wire and stay away from the spark plug.
Remove any material left in the wood chipper hopper.
Use a wrench to turn the drum shaft, first clockwise, then counterclockwise, until the obstruction is
cleared. See image below.
Remove the deflector.
NOTE: Never pry against the offset weld when removing the baffle or at any other time. This will
cause damage to the machine.
Check to see if the deflector is clogged. If it is, clean it with a branch.
Using a wooden stick, loosen and remove any material left in the chipping chamber.
Reinstall the deflector.
Reconnect the spark plug wire and battery (if equipped).
Start the machine and let the material in the chipping chamber discharge pass through the deflector.
If the chamber does not clear and the drum is still stuck, repeat the above process.
Make sure the chipping chamber is clear before attempting to process more material in the chipper.
