1. Operating instructions
The installation and use of electrical appliances
must be carried out with due caution in order
to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.
The equipment must only be used as described
in these instructions. Any use outside of the
manufacturer recommendations could lead to
damage, fire, shock or injury.
Before using the appliance the instructions
should be read in their entirety and all ap
propriate handling of the equipment must be
observed.
These instructions should be kept safe-
ly and passed on to any future owner.
In the event of any repair work, hand them
to the qualified installer for his attention.
1.1 Mode of operation
If the amount of stored heat is no longer suf
ficient to heat a room, it can be supplemented
by switching on the supplementary heater.
However, for reasons of economy the opera
tion of the supplementary heater is regulated
in such a way that, even in "ON" mode, it will
be automatically switched off when there is
sufficient stored heat..
On cool days in spring and autumn, the supple
mentary heater can also be used as the main
heating so that, for example, heating require
ments are entirely covered by the supplemen
tary heater.
The supplementary heater is only to be oper
ated with the fan running, and is connected to
this at the discharge element of the storage
heater (230 V).
2. Installation instructions
The supplementary heater may only be in
stalled by a qualified installer, following both
these Instructions and the operating and in
stallation instructions for the storage heater.
All electrical and installation work is to be
carried out in accordance with the provisions
of VDE 0100, the regulations issued by the
electricity supply authority concerned, and the
relevant national and regional specifications.
2.1 Packing unit
1 supplementary heater and securing material
1 ON/OFF switch
1 thermostat 50 °C
1 thermostat 113 °C (purple identification
marking)
1 set of operating and installation instructions
4 switch leads
1 cable harness
2.2 Installation
Before starting any installation work, ensure
that the storage heater is electrically isolated
and not under voltage.
for the user and qualified installer
Electricity costs are charged via the main
tariff meter.
1.2 Operation
... with separate room thermostat
When using a room temperature regulator
without a supplementary heater switch, such
as the RTAS room thermostat, the supple
mentary heater can be switched on by means
of the ON/OFF switch (S1), which is then
incorporated in the control panel.
With a room thermostat with supplementary
heater switch, such as the RTNZS thermostat,
the supplementary heater is switched on and
off by means of this existing switch (no ON/
OFF switch is needed in the operating panel).
... with integrated room thermostat
If the device is controlled by means of the RT1
E3 or RT1EP2 integrated room thermostat,
the supplementary heater is switched on and
off by means of the ON/OFF switch supplied.
When operating with an RT1EP2 (propor
tional thermostat), care must be taken to en
sure that, after the supplementary heater has
been switched on, this thermostat becomes a
2point thermostat.
Refer to the operating and installation in-
structions for the room thermostat.
1.3 Safety instructions
• No changes at the equipment must be made.
• If any part is damaged or has fallen down or
it was already defect/malfanctioning, it may
no be taken in to operation.
for the qualified installer
When the storage heater is being
connected to an automatic charging
control device, there may still be residual
voltage at the A1/Z1-A2/Z2 terminals, even
if the fuses have been removed.
2.2.1 Installation sequence
⇒ Remove the air outlet and intake grilles
on the front wall and right side wall, as
described in the installation instructions for
the storage heater.
⇒ Use a mechanical aid to push the blind cap
for switches (22) out of the control panel
from the switching chamber side.
If there is already an external room
thermostat available with a supple-
mentary heater switch, there is no need for
a switch to be fitted in the control panel.
⇒ Press the ON/OFF switch (S1) into the
operating panel from the front, with the
flat plug pointing upwards.
⇒ Secure the thermostat N3 (50 °C) to the
partition wall with two selfthreading screws

lower heater connections (into the holes
provided).
To do this, release the angle plate located in
the switch chamber, for accommodating the
mains connection terminals (23) and allow
it to hang suspended, after undoing (not re
moving) the screws located in the rear wall.
The base of the thermostat must lie
flat.
⇒ Unscrew the air flow device (16), draw
it out, and remove the air flap(s) (protect
from damage).
⇒ Fit the supplementary heater body (E8) in
position.
Snap the locking clips (25, two for heating
element) into the slots on the righthand
side of the airflow device (16).
Snap the remaining clip(s) into the under
side of the airflow device.
⇒ Secure the thermostat N2 (113 °C, with
purple spot) to the rear face of the air flow
device with two selfthreading screws M3 x 6,
including the shims.
