PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
SAFE OPERATING PRACTICES
Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment will be used and remove all
foreign objects.
Make sure all safety guards are in the correct position and working properly.
Never tamper with safety devices.
Do not use the machine without wearing appropriate protection and safety
glasses. Always wear goggles or safety glasses during operation and while making
any adjustments or repairs to protect your eyes from foreign objects that may be
thrown from the machine. Make sure your glasses or glasses fit correctly.
Avoid loose clothing and wear protective footwear that improves grip on slippery
surfaces. It is recommended to wear a shirt and pants that cover the arms and
legs and steel-toed boots. Hold your hair above your shoulders. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts. Never use the unit with
bare feet, sandals or sneakers. Use gloves
Never place your hands, feet, or any part of your body in the chipper chute,
discharge opening, or near or under any moving parts while the engine is running.
Stay clear of discharge opening at all times. If it is necessary to push material into
the chipper chute, use a small diameter stick, NOT YOUR HANDS.
Keep your face and body away from the chipping chute to avoid accidentally
bouncing any material.
The machine should only be used on a level surface. Never operate the unit on a
slippery, wet, muddy or icy surface.
Stay alert for hidden traffic dangers. Do not transport passengers.
If the cutting mechanism hits a foreign object or if your machine begins to make
an unusual noise or vibration, stop the engine immediately. Vibration is generally a
warning sign of problems. After the machine has completely stopped, proceed as
follows:
- Disconnect the spark plug wire and keep it away from the spark plug to prevent
accidental starting and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.
- Inspect for damage.
- Repair or replace any damaged parts before restarting and using the machine.
Be careful to avoid slipping or falling.
Stop the engine when leaving the operating position and when performing repairs,
adjustments and inspections. STAY CLEAR OF THE CHIP CHUTE AT ALL TIMES.
Take all possible precautions recommended by the manufacturer when leaving the
machine unattended. Press the emergency stop button.
Never operate this machine indoors, as engine exhaust gases contain carbon
monoxide, which is an odorless, tasteless and deadly poisonous gas.
Do not use the unit with the wood chipper hopper removed.
Avoid contact with hot fuel, oil, exhaust gases and hot surfaces. Do not touch the
engine or muffler, as these parts become considerably hot during operation and
remain hot for a short period after the unit is turned off.
Keep children and pets away.
Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of small
children.
Keep children out of the work area and under the supervision of a responsible
adult other than the operator.
Be alert and turn off the unit if a child enters the area.
Never allow children to operate the wood chipper.
Do not overload or attempt to chip material longer than 4 inches. Personal injury
or damage to the machine could result.
Never operate the machine at high transport speeds or on hard or slippery
surfaces.
Never allow other people near the operating unit.
Use the device only in daylight. Do not use the unit at night or in dark areas
where your vision may be affected.
Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the machine towards you. NEVER
move the machine while it is running.
Do not manipulate the engine governor adjustment. The governor controls the
maximum safe operating speed and protects the motor. Overspeeding the engine
is dangerous and will cause damage to the engine and other moving parts of the
machine.
Start the engine following the manufacturer's instructions. Keep hands and feet
away from entry and discharge areas.
Never lift or transport the machine with the engine running.
Do not use the machine under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication. A
clear mind is essential for security.
Do not allow anyone who is not alert to operate this machine.
When loading material into this equipment, be very careful not to include pieces
of metal, stones or other foreign objects. Personal injury or machine damage
could occur.
Keep the discharge area free of people, animals, buildings, glass or anything else
that could obstruct clear discharge, cause injury or damage. The wind can also
change the direction of discharge, so be aware.
Do not allow processed material to accumulate in the discharge area, as this will
prevent proper discharge and may cause the chipper to kick back.
Do not allow any part of the engine, especially around the cooling fins and
muffler, to become clogged with processed material, leaves, oil, grease or any
other combustible material.
Do not operate the engine with the air filter or carburetor air intake cover
removed, except for adjustment. Failure to remove these parts could create a fire
hazard.
Do not cover the machine while the muffler is hot and do not alter or adjust any
parts sealed by the manufacturer or distributor.
