MAINTENANCE
MAINTENANCE
Position the machine so that it cannot move during maintenance, cleaning,
adjustment, fitting of accessories or spare parts, as well as during storage.
Avoid forcing the machine and use the proper equipment for your application.
Avoid changing the engine governor setting or over-revving the engine, as the
governor controls the maximum safe operating speed of the engine.
Do not operate the engine at high speed when it is not working and keep hands
and feet away from rotating parts.
Allow the engine to cool down before servicing or making adjustments.
When storing the machine out of the reach of children, ensure that only persons
familiar with the machine or these instructions operate the machine, as it can
be dangerous if used by an untrained user. Should the machine emit an unusual
noise or vibration, immediately switch off the engine, disconnect the spark plug
wire and check the cause. An unusual sound or vibration is usually a sign of
trouble.
Use only manufacturer approved attachments and accessories to avoid personal
injury. Keep the engine and muffler free of grass, leaves, excessive grease or
carbon build-up to reduce the risk of fire. Keep handles dry, clean and free of
debris, and clean after each use. Observe appropriate laws and regulations for
disposal of gas, oil, etc., to protect the environment.
Never wet or spray the unit with water or any other liquid.
Be aware that some parts are made of plastic or rubber and should be kept away
from chemicals. Only a qualified service technician can adjust parts that affect the
regulated speed of the engine.
Check for alignment and binding of moving parts, and repair broken or worn
parts that may affect operation before use. Remember that many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained equipment.
Keep the machine, attachments and accessories in safe working condition. Never
operate your chipper in poor mechanical condition or when it is in need of repair.
Check the tightness of the blade mounting bolts before each use. Also visually
inspect the blade for wear or damage.
Replace the blade with parts that meet original equipment specifications.
Avoid leaving machinery idle for extended periods of time, especially during the
winter. Thoroughly clean any dirt present on the grease nipples using a clean
cloth and then apply no more than three doses of general purpose quality grease
using a hand pump grease gun. It is crucial to avoid over-lubrication, as this could
result in bearing damage.
Also, perform periodic checks on the bearing collar bolts to confirm proper
tightness. If they are loose, secure them using Loctite, a product available in
conventional hardware stores.
REGULAR MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST
BEFORE EACH USE
Check engine oil level
Check the general condition of the equipment
Check that the cutting roller rotates freely (only with a long stick)
Visually inspect the blade for damage.
Check engine mounting bolts and other hardware for tightness.
Check the sharpness of the blades and the tightness of the bolts holding them to
the drum.
EVERY 8-10 HOURS
Check the sharpness of the knife and wear plate.
Check the blade fixing bolts and wear plate.
Check for loose nuts and bolts.
Check that the blade is worn and that there is no gap between the plates.
Apply lubrication to the shredder side and to the bearings located on the
transmission side.
EVERY 40 HOURS
Check tyre pressure
Change engine oil.
Inspect or replace spark plug
Inspect or replace air filter and precleaner.
Increase frequencies in extremely dirty or dusty conditions.
IMPORTANT! YOU MUST CHECK THE SHARPNESS OF THE BLADE AND THE NUTS
AND BOLTS THAT ATTACH IT TO THE BEAD OF THE FLYWHEEL BEFORE EACH
OPERATION.
IMPORTANT! WHENEVER YOU PERFORM MAINTENANCE OR ANY TYPE OF
SERVICE OR CHECK THE BLADE, BE SURE TO CHECK THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN
THE BLADE AND THE WEAR PLATE FOR PROPER ADJUSTMENT.
