MAINTENANCE
BLADE REMOVAL, SHARPENING AND REINSTALLATION
HOW TO REMOVE THE BLADE
WARNING! Always wear safety gloves when working with blades. This machine has two reversible blades. When one edge
is worn, you can rotate the blades to use the second edge. When both blades are worn, you must replace the blades. If you
notice an increase in vibration that may be due to wear on the cutting edges, you will also notice that the material you cut
becomes frayed when the blades are dull or worn.
BLADE REINSTALLATION
The anvil is also reversible. To install the new OEM blade: remove the feed hopper, rotate the cut-off wheel until the blade can
be seen from the side of the feed hopper, loosen the three nuts and bolts that hold the wear plate in place. Remove any dull
or damaged blades and make a visual inspection of the cutting roller groove and blade mounting area. Make sure that they
are clean and that the positioning blades can be mounted against the cutter roller. Re-mount the new or sharpened blades
with the edges facing upwards. You can move the anvil plate up or down, allowing precise adjustment. Make sure that the
clearance between the anvil plate and the blade is correctly adjusted, as an incorrect setting could generate excessive vibrations
during the chipping process, resulting in chipping of the blade. The clearance between the blades and the wear plate should
be approximately 1 mm at the position closest to the rotor shaft and 3 mm at the position furthest from the rotor shaft. They
are slightly tapered to allow a slight movement in the cutting roller as it shreds the wood. Make sure that all lock nuts are
tightened correctly. Next, turn the cutting roller with a long wooden stick to make sure it turns freely. This procedure should
be carried out at regular intervals of 8 to 10 hours of operation.replace the lock nuts securing the blade every time you change
the blade.check the distance between the blade and the wear plate every time you sharpen or change the blade.
SHARPENING
Never attempt to sharpen the chipping blade. It is crucial to constantly maintain the 45 degree angle for proper performance.
Take the chipping blade to a machine shop for proper sharpening. It is essential to carry out regular inspections on the blades
to check their sharpness and on the wear plate to identify any sharp edges. This will ensure optimum performance of your
wood chipper. The use of dull blades or a wear plate with rounded contours will result in decreased performance and generate
excessive vibration, causing damage to the machinery and complications in the cutting process for the operator.
STORAGE
STORAGE
If the wood chipper will not be used for more than 30 days, follow these steps to
prepare the unit for storage:Allow the engine to cool before storing in any enclosure.
Drain the fuel tank completely, as stale fuel with high gum content can clog the
carburettor and restrict fuel flow.Start the engine and let it run until it stops to ensure
that no fuel remains in the carburettor and prevent the formation of deposits that
could damage the engine.Drain the engine oil while it is still warm and refill with fresh
oil of the grade recommended in the engine manual.Allow the engine to cool. Remove
the spark plug and add 60 ml of high quality SAE-30 engine oil into the cylinder.
Slowly pull the starter cord to distribute the oil and then replace the spark plug.Use
clean cloths to clean the outside of the wood chipper and ensure that the air vents are
free of obstructions.Store the chipper upright in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place.
AVOID USING STRONG DETERGENTS OR PETROLEUM-BASED CLEANERS
WHEN CLEANING PLASTIC PIECES, AS THESE CHEMICAL PRODUCTS CAN
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MATERIAL.
REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE DARKNESS AND DRAIN ALL THE OIL
FROM THE CYLINDER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR THE UNIT AFTER
THE STORAGE PERIOD. THIS PROCESS WILL HELP MAINTAIN THE
EFFICIENCY AND DURABILITY OF THE SHREDDER.
NEVER STORE THE MACHINE WITH FUEL IN THE STORE IN AN
UNVENTILATED PLACE, ESPECIALLY IN AN AREA WHERE FUEL VAPORS
MAY COME INTO CONTACT WITH LLAMAS, CHISELS, PILOT LIGHTS
OR ANY OTHER IGNITION SOURCE. USE ONLY ACCESSIBLE FUEL
CONTAINERS.
IF IT IS NECESSARY TO EMPTY THE FUEL TANK, LEAVE IT TO OPEN AIR.
