1/HOW TO LOAD THE ROLL-PAPER
1) Cut across the paper to form a clean end and
insert into slot @ all the way (Fig. 1).
2) While pressing the & key keep pushing paper
until it appears in the back of the paper cutter
@ (Fig. 1).
3) Flip the roll-holder forward and set the roll-
paper onto the roll-holder (3) (Fig. 2).
2/HOW TO CHANGE THE INK
ROLLER
The printer in this model uses a disposable ink
roller (cartridge type).
If impressions are too light or illegible, replace the
ink roller with a new one.
1) Open the printer cover (Fig. 4).
2) Remove the ink roller by pulling it straight up
(Fig. 5).
3} Install a new ink rotler (Fig. 6).
4) Make sure that the ink roller is in place, and
replace the cover.
NOTE:
Never fill the ink roller with fluid ink as it may run
or clog the printer. Use only Casio ink cartridge
(SR-5: IR-50P/HR-8:
IR-40).

After replacing the batteries, press this with a
pointed object.
Auto power off
If the unit is left approximately 6 minutes after
the last key operation, the power will be auto-
matically cut off and display will blank out.
Press the ES key to resume calculations. When
power is resumed, contents of the memory and
a designated decimal mode can be protected.
(4 Clear key
Clears entry for correction, and releases overflow
or error check.
ES All clear key
Clears the entire machine except the memory,
and releases overflow or error check.
Paper feed key
Advances the roll-paper.
(P] Print OFF/ON
switch key
Activates the printer function. Each press of this
key alternates the OFF/ON condition. OFF (dis-
play clear) or ON (PRT on display).
Print key
Prints the displayed number even with the printer
function deactivated {when PRT is not displayed}.
Prints an entry such as a date, code number, etc.
Round key
Designates the decimal mode. Each time this key
is pressed, the mode
will change in sequence
from ''F'' to "'5/4'" to "CUT" to ""F'', Designat-
ed mode will be shown on the display.
F:
The decimal floats and the underflow sys-
tem works to protect the significant digits.
5/4:
The answer is automatically rounded off
at 2 decimal
places,
applying
floating
mode for entry and intermediate result.
CUT:
The answer is cut off in a similar way to
the above.
((¥-]) Memory plus (minus) key
Transfers the number displayed to the memory
positively (negatively).
Obtains answer in four functions and automati-
cally accumulates it into the memory positively
(negatively).
Memory recall key
Recalls
the contents
of the memory
without
clearing.
Memory clear key
Clears the contents of the memory.
Percent key
Performs percentage calculations, including add-
ons, discounts and mark-ups.

4-1 Handling of the calculator
*Since the unit contains precise electronic com-
ponents, never attempt to disassemble it.
*Be careful
not to drop the unit or handle
it
roughly.
* Avoid operating tite keys roughly. Two or more
keys should not be pressed simultaneously as
this may damage the unit.
*Avoic using the unit in extreme temperatures
(below 32°F or O°C, or above 104°F or 40°C}.
Also protect the unit from extremely dusty or
humid conditions.
*The unit should be operated only when the roll-
paper is set properly and keys are pressed firmly
and separately.
*When the printer does not work normally as a
result of paper jam or exhausted battery power,
the display shows
'E' on the left and 'P' on the
right. In this case, remove the jammed paper or
replace the batteries with new ones.
*Never use volatile fluid such as lacquer thinner,
benzine,
etc. for cleaning the unit.
*Never use the calculator with the printer func-
tion activated without roll-paper.
4-2 Buffer register
This calculator is equipped with an input buffer
register which
retains
up to 7 key-in,
whether
numeral
entries
or function
commands.
This
feature
enables
very
fast Operation
even
while the previous entry is being processed.
4-3 Overflow
check
Overflow is indicated by the ''E'' sign and stops
further calculation.
Overflow occurs:
a) When the integer part of an answer, whether
intermediate or final, exceeds
10 digits.
b) When the integer part of an accumulated to-
tal in the memory
exceeds
10 digits.
In the case of a}, however, it displays the signifi-
cant digits of the answer and the decimal point
indicates that the true decimal
position is 10
digits to the right.
To release the overflaw check, press the [% or
4 key.
fe clears the entire machine except the memory.
(4 clears only the ''E"' sign and the displayed ap-
proximate number can be utilized in subsequent
calculations.
Memory
protection:
The
contents
of the
memory
are
protected
against overflow and the total accumulated so
far is recalled by the imp) key after the overflow
check is released by the
&@ key.
The
Ps) key prints out only the displayed num-
ber when the printer function deactivated.
