1 Switch on the soldering station by setting the power switch to ON (I).
The LCD temperature display lights up.
The display shows „350°C PRESET". This means that the soldering station is preset is
preset to a soldering temperature of 350°C. The soldering iron heats up.
2 Use the setting keys to set the desired temperature in the range 150- 450°C (set va-
lue SET)
Pressing one of the buttons briefly increases or decreases the soldering temperature
by 1°C. If you keep a button pressed, the temperature is increased or decreased con-
tinuously.
The setpoint (SET) appears in the lower part of the display.
The actual value (TEMP) appears in the upper part of the
display.
The setpoint value indicates which temperature value the
soldering iron tip should reach. The actual value shows
which temperature value the soldering iron tip has actually
reached. During the heating phase, the message „HEAT ON WAIT" appears in the dis-
play.
The target value can be adjusted at any time.
The set temperature value is stored when the soldering station is switched off and set
again the next time the station is switched on. The desired soldering temperature the-
refore therefore not have to be re-entered for the next soldering operation.
5.4 Soldering tip tin plating
Before using the soldering station for the first time, the new soldering tip must first be tin-
ned
1 Wipe the soldering tip on the damp sponge to clean it
2 Set the target value to 200°C and wait until the soldering tip has heated up.
3 Let some solder melt into a thin, coherent film on the soldering tip.
It is important that the soldering tip is always kept wetted with solder, otherwise it will
become passive after a while and will no longer accept solder.
5.5 Handling
• The prerequisite for perfect soldering results is the use of suitable solder and the cor-
rect handling of the soldering station We recommend the use of electronic solder with
rosin flux core. Under no circumstances should halogen-containing fluxes be used.
The flux inside the solder wire frees the solder joint from solder-inhibiting impurities
and oxides and prevents the formation of new oxide during soldering.
• The correct soldering temperature is decisive for the solder joint quality In the electro-
nics sector, the usual soldering temperature is 300-380°C. Soldering temperatures that
are too low lead to „cold" solder joints. If the soldering temperature is too high, the flux
will the flux burns, so that the solder flow is interrupted.
1 Wipe the soldering tip on the damp sponge before soldering
Residues are thus removed and can no longer reach the soldering point.
2 Set the desired temperature using the temperature setting buttons and wait until the
soldering tip has heated up
3 Bring the soldering tip together with the solder to the soldering point
First, the flux flows and cleans the surface of the parts to be soldered. Then the solder
flows and makes the electrically conductive connection.
The soldering time should be less than 2 seconds in electronics.
A good solder joint looks smooth and shiny when cooled down after removing the sol-
