FEATURES
e Through
the intensive
research
on the high fidelity reproduc-
tion of the original sound,
the speaker
units
are
mounted
on
the
baffle
board
so
that
the
reproduced
sound
of each
unit
will appear on one vertical axis—the
Plumb-inline
speaker
unit
configuration.
This results in the smooth
transition
of sound.
eThe
38cm
woofer
with a voice coil of 100 mm
diameter and
with
low-distortion
magnetic
circuit
reproduces
the
deep
and
rich bass sound.
The 3.5 cm tweeter and
10cm
mid-range of
balanced-drive
type,
which
has
an
excellent
performance
and
high
linearity,
reproduce
a well-balanced
clear sound
in high-
and mid-frequencies.
eThe
baffle
board,
which
affects
the
quality
of
reproduced
sound,
is grooved
in lattice
pattern
to improve
the acoustical
effects
and
directivity,
and
Sony
named
it AG
(Acoustically
Grooved) board.
The tweeter and mid-range are mounted on the
baffle
board
with
the
unit
board,
which
obtains
the
better
directivity.
eThe
high efficiency and the power handling capacity of 100 W
extend
a dynamic
range.
e The
newly
developed
materials
and
parts
with
low-DC
re-
sistance,
low-distortion
and
high-input
characteristics
are em-
ployed
in the network,
and also for the inside wiring
the
low-
impedance
wires
are used.
eThe
material
and
size
of the enclosure
is decided
so as to
control
the
vibration
of each
board
and
to drive
the woofer
effectively.
@The
aluminum
alloy frame
of each speaker unit has sufficient
thickness and rigidity which assures excellent
acoustical
charac-
teristics.
@ The
low-distortion
magnetic
circuit establishes
high linearity.
PRECAUTIONS
@While
connecting,
turn the amplifier off.
@The
nominal
power
handling capacity of the SS-G7 is 100 W.
Be careful
not to drive the SS-G7
continuously with the power
over
100 W.
eAvoid
supplying
the following
signals
for a long
period
of
time, otherwise
the speaker units may
be damaged.
Continuous
sine wave
power of more
than 5W
Interstation
noise of fm broadcastings
High-frequency signals in fast-forward
and rewind modes of
a tape recorder
@Lower
the volume
each time you turn your unit "on" or "off"
to avoid sound
"bursts".
eTurn
off your amplifier when
connecting or disconnecting the
input programs
to your amplifier.
@Do
not touch the cone
paper of the unit to avoid damaging it.
@Do
not attempt to open the cabinet or remove speaker units.
There are no user-serviceable
parts inside.
@Do
not place
magnetic
tapes
on
or
near
the
speaker,
since
the strong
magnetic
circuit
of the
SS-G7
may
affect
the
re-
corded
portion of tape.
@To
maintain
the
beauty
of your
speaker,
periodically
wipe
the cabinet with a soft cloth.
Do not use any type of scouring
powder,
abrasive
pad or solvent.
FRONT
GRILLE
INSTALLATION
Mount the front grille to the speaker by matching the mounting
pins
to the
mounting
holes
on
the
baffle
board;
insert the
upper pins first, then the lower ones
by pushing
up the
grille
slightly.
To remove
the grille, pull out the upper
ones,
then
the
lower
ones.

TRANSPORTATION
When
transporting
the speaker to another
place, disconnect all
connecting cords from the terminals.
Use the hole on the back
for easy transportation
as shown
below.
