4.1
Construction
Electrical connection: The electrical connection is made
via a cable with or without plug (see Type code on
page 27).
Housing: Plastic housing
Housing length: 22.5 mm
Fastening: The BMP is fastened with sliding blocks in a
C-slot or T-slot. For mounting on round cylinders or on
cylinders with dovetail slot or dovetail rail, additional
holders are required (see Accessories on page 25).
Position magnet: Defines the position to be measured.
For distances between position magnet and sensor, see
chapter 5.6 on page 14.
Measurement range: 22 mm. For repeat accuracy and
linearity errors the values listed in the Technical data (see
Section 10.1 on page 23) must be observed.
Detection range: 26 mm. Range in which the BMP
detects the position of the position magnet. It extends
beyond the measuring range by 2 mm on both sides. If a
radially magnetized position magnet is used, the detection
range may be smaller.
The detection range beyond the measurement
range is only displayed on the IO-Link interface.

Function
The BMP is an intelligent magnetic field positioning system.
It is mainly used for the contactless detection of the piston
stroke of pneumatic cylinders, grippers and slides with
axially or radially magnetized permanent magnets and is
fastened in C-slot or T-slot sections. The BMP ensures a
continuous, absolute position measurement in application-
relevant measurement accuracy.
The BMP has an IO-Link interface and an easy-to-adjust
switching output. Depending on the version (see Type
code on page 27), the BMP also has an analog output
that is easy to evaluate.
With the button and the status LED, the BMP can be
parameterized without additional tools.
Via the IO-Link interface, further setting options are
available for more convenient operation and status
monitoring functions are available for operation.
With its functions the BMP supports the simple format
change in various applications.
