Hold the device by the insulated grip-
ping surfaces, when performing an
operation where the cutting accessory
may contact hidden wiring or its own
mains cable. If a cutting accessory contacts a
"live" wire, it may make exposed metal parts of the
power tool "live" and could give the operator an
electric shock.

Pull the plug out of the plug socket before
carrying out any adjustments, retooling, mainte-
nance or cleaning.

Only work with the auxiliary handle correctly
attached.

Always hold the machine with both hands on the
handles provided, take up a stable posture and
concentrate on the work in hand.

Always wear safety glasses, safety gloves, dust
mask and sturdy shoes when working with your
power tool!

Check that at the point where work is to be per-
formed, there are no power, water or gas
lines (e.g. using a metal detector).
▸
Only work with the tool correctly attached. Pull on
the tool to check that it is correctly seated. (It must
be possible for the tool to move a few centimetres
in the axial direction.)

When working above ground level: Ensure that the
area below is clear.
▸
Do not touch the accessory tool or parts in the
vicinity of the accessory tool as they may be
extremely hot and could cause skin burns.
▸
Always route the power cable towards the rear of
the machine.
▸
Replace a damaged or cracked auxiliary handle.
Do not operate the machine with a defective
auxiliary handle.
▸
Secure the workpiece to prevent slipping or joint
rotation with the tool (e.g. by clamping with G
clamps).
Special safety instructions
Reducing the dust load:
WARNING - Some dusts generated during
sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other work
processes contain chemicals that are known to cause
cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Some examples of these chemicals include:
— Lead from lead-containing paint,
— Mineral dust from mineral stones, cement and
— arsenic and chrome from chemically treated
The risk posed to you from exposure varies depend-
ing on how often your carry out this type of work.
In order to reduce your exposure to these chemi-
cals: Work in a well-ventilated area and work with
approved protective equipment, e.g. dust masks that
have been specially developed to filter out micro-
scopic particles.

This also applies to dust deriving from other mate-
rials, e.g. several types of wood (such as oak or
beech-tree dust), metal, asbestos. Other known
afflictions include allergic reactions, respiratory
illnesses for example. Do not swallow or inhale
dust.

Observe the directives and national regulations
applicable for your material, personnel, appli-
cation and place of use (e.g. health and safety
regulations, disposal).
▸
Capture the particulates generated at the place
of origin, do not allow them to be deposited in the
surroundings.
▸
Use accessories suitable for specialised work. This
will reduce the uncontrolled escape of particulates
into the surroundings.
▸
Use a suitable dust extraction system.
▸
Reduce the dust load by:
— Ensuring the escaping flow of particulates and
— Use an extractor system and/or an air cleaner,
— Provide good workplace ventilation and keep
— Vacuum or wash protective clothing. Do not blow,
other brickwork materials, as well as
wood.
