SYSTEM TRIP CODE TROUBLESHOOTING (CONTINUED)
Excessive heating of Drive
Overheated
Drive has been running without going into
standby mode for set time
Broken Pipe
Application calls for long run time
External Trip
Contacts closed on "Alarm In" terminals
SYMPTOM
Water flow rate is not as
Motor/Pump is running backwards .
high as expected .
Pump capacity cannot supply the demand .
Temperature in the controller is too high . If the
controller's heat exchanger becomes too hot,
the controller will reduce the output frequency
to the motor to lower the power consumption .
Excessive pressure
Waterlogged tank .
fluctuations .
Pressure tank is too small for flow rating of the
pump .
Motor runs continuously
Standby sensitivity (Transducer Control) needs
with no flow demand .
adjusted
Leak in the household or outdoor plumbing .
Leak in the pitless adapter .
Drive will not come out of
Bad pressure switch
standby mode
Loose pressure switch wire connection or
broken wire
Drive is in switch control mode and transducer
is hooked up backwards .
No water flow with motor
Open connection between drive & motor or
pulling high current .
open motor winding
Damaged pump or motor .

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Flint & Walling © Copyright 2022. All rights reserved.
Check that the ambient temperature is not above 125°F
Check for obstructed or inoperable fan
Check for blocked vents
Check for broken or leaking pipe and repair as necessary
Increase broken pipe run time in Advanced Feature menu
Turn off Broke Pipe protection in Advanced Feature menu
Check condition of switch wired into "Alarm In" terminals
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Switch two of the three wires leading from the controller to the
3-phase motor .
Use pump with higher flow rating (if head requirement is still
satisfied) .
Make sure there is at least 6 inches of room around the controller for
movement of air . Avoid direct sunlight . Reduce ambient temperature
below 104°F (40°C) . Verify correct wire size between supply and
controller - see wire sizing chart .
Check tank for bladder damage . Replace if necessary .
Reset the tank pre-charge pressure (should be 70% of pressure
switch/transducer setting) .
Use larger tank (4 gal . tank minimum) .
Note highest Hz & Amp draw on display when pump is running
against closed locked valve . Adjust standby frequency to 2 Hz above
noted frequency & standby current to 0 .2 A above the noted current .
Check for leaky faucets, valves and/or pipe fittings and repair .
Re-seat the pitless adapter . Replace seal as needed .
Check continuity across pressure switch terminals and replace if
necessary
Check pressure switch wire connections on display board and at
pressure switch . Check wire for continuity .
Check to ensure transducer brown lead is connected to S1 and blue
lead is connected to S2 terminals . Change control mode from switch
to transducer .
Depending upon motor winding and length of drop cable an open
connection (or open motor winding) can cause the drive to not
trip out on locked rotor . This will cause the motor to not spin but
the drive will provide current to connected winding . Power down
drive, check winding and drop cable resistance and repair/replace
damaged drop cable or motor .
Damage to pump or motor causing excessive drag resulting in the
drive limiting output current to the motor . Pull pump and motor and
check for damage or misalignment .
