Read these instructions carefully before installing,
operating, servicing or repairing this tool. Keep these
instructions in an accessible place.
Safety Messages
Snap-on Tools Company provides safety messages to
cover reasonable situations that may be encountered
when operating, servicing or repairing air tools. It is the
responsibility of operators and servicing technicians to
be knowledgeable about the procedures, tools and
materials used, and to satisfy themselves that the
procedures, tools and materials will not compromise
their safety, that of others in the work place or the tool.
Power Tool Safety Messages
Snap-on power tools may contain chemicals known
to the State of California to cause cancer, birth
defects, or other reproductive harm.
Power tools can cause flying particles.
• Proper eye protection must be worn at all times
by tool user and bystanders.
• The grade of protection required should be
assessed for each use.
Flying particles can cause injury.
Power tools generate noise.
• Ear protection must be worn when tool noise
level exceeds 85 dBA. We also recommend that
ear protection be worn when the tool noise level
is below 85 dBA. See the tool's information sheet
for the noise level.
• Use hearing protection in accordance with
employer's instruction; and as required by
occupational health and safety regulations.
• Appropriate controls to reduce the risk can
include actions such as damping materials to
prevent work pieces from ringing.
• Operate and maintain the sander or polisher as
recommended in this instruction handbook, to
prevent an unnecessary increase in the noise level.
• If the sander has a silencer, always ensure it is in
place and in good working order when the tool is
being operated.
Prolonged exposure to noise can cause hearing loss,
and other problems such as tinnitus.

Power tools vibrate.
• Excessive vibration can cause injury. If numbness,
tingling, pain or whitening of the skin occurs, stop
using tool and consult a physician. See the tool's
information sheet for the vibration level.
• For concerns regarding atypical use, consider
that the vibration standards listed in this
document reflect normal use as indicated by
ISO28927-3. Additional risk management should
be performed to ensure the safety beyond the
scope of normal use.
• Exposure to vibration can cause disabling
damage to the nerves and blood supply of the
hands and arms.
• Operate and maintain the sander or polisher as
recommended in the instruction handbook, to prevent
and unnecessary increase in vibration levels.
Prolonged exposure to vibration can cause injury.
Rotating sanding pads can cause cuts and abrasions.
• Keep hands and other body parts away from
sanding pads to prevent cutting or pinching. Wear
protective clothing and gloves to protect hands.
• Wear warm clothing when working in cold
conditions and keep your hands warm and dry.
Contact with rotating sanding pads can cause injury.
Sanders present a risk of entanglement.
• Keep loose hair away from power tools and
accessories. Keep hands away from moving parts
of the tool and accessories. Do not wear jewelry,
loose clothing, or neckwear around power tools.
Keep work area clear of cleaning rags and all
items that could become entangled with the tool.
Entanglement can cause injuries.
Sanding operations creates dust and fumes. Risk
assessment should include dust created, and dust
that disturbed in the surrounding area.
• Do not breathe sanding dust. Use approved mask
for each application.
• Operate and maintain these tools as
recommended in these instructions to minimize
dust and fumes.
• Direct exhaust to minimize dust disturbance in
the area.
Breathing sanding dust can cause injury.
