Cleaning and Maintenance
7.1
Cleaning
DANGER:
Risk of electric shock!
▷ Prior to any cleaning, pull the mains plug.
▷ Prior to cleaning: Allow the machine to cool

down.
NOTE:
Possible damage to the housing.
▷ For cleaning of the machine housing, only use
cleaning agents suitable for aluminium/light
metals.
▷ Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents.
▷ Wipe off the machine with a moist, lint-free
cloth.
7.2
Maintenance
7.2.1
Descaling
The Steamer X3 must be descaled at regular inter-
vals. The descaling intervals depend on the water
hardness (calcium content) of the water being
used. A test strip is provided for determining the
water hardness.
Regular flushing of the tank is required on
a weekly basis, even when operating with
water-conditioning systems/decalcifica-
tion systems (salt and/or phosphate
based).

Determining the descaling interval
▷ Fill a container with water.
▷ Immerse the test strip for 1 second into the
water.
▷ Lightly shake off excess water from the test
strip and after 1 minute, compare test strip with
colour scale.
▷ Determine the descaling interval according to
Table 1.

Descaling procedure
NOTE:
Damage of the machine through operation with
unsuitable fluids:
▷ For descaling, use only Kalk-X Liquid descal-
ing agent (116811).
The descaling procedure may only be carried out
when the machine is cool and pressure-free.
▷ Position Steamer X3 over a wash basin.
DANGER:
Danger of scalding!
Pressurized steam can be present in the
machine.
▷ Do not open the drain cock as long as the
machine is under pressure.
