Troubleshooting
Problem
Spray gun will not spray
Intermittent/sputtering spray
Arc-shaped spray pattern
Spray pattern is not evenly spread
Centre of spray pattern too narrow
Pattern width too small
No or very little paint output
Excessive overspray
Dry spray
Runs and sags
12
Possible cause
No air pressure
Material viscosity far too high
Spray gun wrongly adjusted
Fluid level too low
Dry or worn needle packing seat; air seeping into
fluid passage
Leaking Paint Container Lid
or Fluid Connector (3)
Obstruction in fluid passage
Packing fluid needle too loose causing leaking
Horn holes clogged
Uneven volume of fluid from horn holes cause
fluid deviation
Material builds up on the outside of the fluid tip or
centre hole or partially clogs the nozzle orifice
Loose fluid nozzle
Atomising air pressure too high
Material too thin
Atomising air pressure too low
Material too thick
Fluid passage clogged
Air holes in the nozzle blocked
Fluid needle stroke too small
(Material flow too low)
Atomising air pressure too high
Spray gun too far from work surface
Wrong spray gun movement (arcing, too fast)
Atomising air pressure too high
Material not properly prepared
Spray gun too far from work surface
Spray gun motion too fast
Spray gun wrongly adjusted
Material flow too high
Material too thin
Gun tilted on an angle
If the above troubleshooting solutions fail, contact your dealer or an authorised Silverline service centre.
Solution
Check air supply
Regulate material viscosity
Follow adjustment procedure to readjust spray gun
Refill Paint Container (1)
Tighten packing; lubricate
Tighten Fluid Connector and Paint Container Lid; inspect Lid seal
Flush with solvent to dissolve blockage
Tighten or replace packing
Remove obstructions from horn holes; soak in suitable solvent and wipe clean
Remove obstruction
Tighten fluid nozzle
Reduce air pressure
Regulate material viscosity
Increase air pressure
Regulate material viscosity
Remove obstructions
Increase material flow
Reduce air pressure
Use proper distance to workpiece
Move at moderate pace, parallel to the workpiece
Reduce air pressure
Adjust viscosity and re-filter material
Use proper distance to workpiece
Move at moderate pace
Follow adjustment procedure to readjust spray gun
Reduce material flow
Regulate material viscosity
Hold gun at right angle to the workpiece; improve spraying technique
